CBC, Day 3: Antigua - Bermuda 70-59
It was a game between two winless teams of Group B. Of course, even before this game it was clear that from this pool Cuba and British Virgin Islands will advance to CBC Semifinals. Antigua and Bermuda will continue battle for the fifth place and the yesterday's winner will have a more chance to do it as they will meet No.4 from Group A (Barbados) in the first game. Bermuda will take on Bahamas. The winners of these two games will play for the fifth and losers for the seventh place. Marlon Charles (186-G-76) was a key player for Antigua yesterday as he scored 18 points. Toray Henry (203-C-88) also had pretty important role added 13 points and 7 boards. Gerrard Gore and David Mahijah Davis helped with 7 pts apiece. In Bermuda, Akil Smith was on fire with 16 points. John Lee (-82) stopped on 13. Antigua controlled rhythm of the game from the very beginning. After 10 minutes they already had pus 13, as Bermuda scored only 6 points. Later Bermuda improved, but they needed a way more. Third quarter was 20-17 and the last one 15-14 for the winners.

Antigua-British Virgin Islands 60:67
The British Virgin Islands advanced to the semifinals of the CBC Championship. In Day 2 the home side overcame Antigua 67:60 in the last game of the day.
The British Virgin Islands started the game with 19:12 as the home crown enjoyed the beginning of the game. Halstead Chiverton and Chaurbin Smith shined for the hosts in the second period to give the hosts 35:26 at the halftime.

The British Virgin Islands advanced to the semifinals of the CBC Championship. In Day 2 the home side overcame Antigua 67:60 in the last game of the day. The British Virgin Islands started the game with 19:12 as the home crown enjoyed the beginning of the game. Halstead Chiverton and Chaurbin Smith shined for the hosts in the second period to give the hosts 35:26 at the halftime. For Antigua it was a do or die game, so they had nothing to lose. Antigua closed the lead in the third quarter finishing down 51:49 due to Mario Davis (198-F/G-80, college: Missouri Western) and Xavier Meade (201-C-87) effort. Moreover the teams opened the last period at 51:51, but then British Virgin Islands proved the home superiority. British Virgin Islands showed 52% from the field and Antigua had 39%. The latter however had a better free throw percentage as they made 18/24 against 17/25. Halstead Chiverton (-82) top-scored for the winners with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Chaurbin Smith (178-G-81) nailed 13, while Kennedy Bass (196-F, college: Anderson) netted 12. Mario Davis responded with 15 points in the losing case and Xavier Meade added 12. Today British Virgin Islands and Cuba will play for the top place in the group, while Antigua and Bermuda will play for the initial victory.

Cuban National team opened CBC Championship with victory. They toppled Antigua for the first win in preliminary Group B. The teams are fighting for a top-two finish in the pool to reach the semifinal stage. Three best teams will qualify for the 2010 Centrobasket. Geoffrei Silvestre (202-F/C-79) knocked down 25 points to lift Cuba to the win. He was however ejected for the second unsportsmanlike foul in the fourth period. The teams kept it close in the opening frame just before Taylor Garcia (182-G-87) capped with a three-pointer for 21:18 Cuban lead. A 15:4 rally elevated Cuba to a comfortable lead midway through the quarter before Antigua woke up to respond. Wayne Walker (198-F-75, college: Wisc.-Green Bay) orchestrated an 11:0 surge in the dying minutes of the half that propelled Antigua to a 43:37 lead at halftime. Antigua opened the second half with four points in a row to open a 10-point lead. But Geoffrei Silvestre and Allens Jemmott (193-G-80) sparked a comeback effort from Cuba as they ensured an 8-point lead into the final frame. Cuba maintained the cushion well enough to celebrate the initial win at the tournament. Allens Jemmott poured in 17 points for the winning side. Wayne Walker replied with 20 points for Antigua. Xavier Meade (201-C-87) produced 18 points in the loss.
