Coy Quinland decided that he was going to take the 2009 Cool & Smooth Business League All-Star on Saturday night at the JSC Sports Complex to a different hemisphere when he attempted one of the most difficult stunts the Antiguan basketball arena would have ever seen. Coy Quinland decided that he was going to take the 2009 Cool & Smooth Business League All-Star on Saturday night at the JSC Sports Complex to a different hemisphere when he attempted one of the most difficult stunts the Antiguan basketball arena would have ever seen. In last years Business League slam-dunk competition, Quinland jumped over a quad motorbike and stirred the fans into a frenzy. However, this time around, the sky glider tried to sail over a car to capture the slam-dunk title. His team-mate on 20/20, Humroy Wright who won it last year could not compete as only one member per team was allowed. To take the title, Quinland threw the ball up in the air and let it bounce for the alley-hoop. In the process, he tried to catch it and jump over the car while concentrating on dunking the ball. Unfortunately, the dunk turned out to be much more difficult than he perceived it to be. And although he didnt complete the dunk, the fans still rooted for the high flyer so he put the icing on the cake with a 360 degree, reverse windmill smash to demand the crown. Michael Jeffers from APUA Head Office bagged the three-point shootout trophy by racking a total of 7 points, while Kareem Edwards retained his speed dribble title by defeating Wright and Jarard Gore in the finals. The team speed dribbling championship went to Head Office. The highly anticipated All-Star game kept fans on their feet throughout its entirety and was definitely a match to watch. Myers Dark Blue (MDB) and McCoy Sky Blue (MSK) took to the floor right after the slam-dunk competition. MSK rushed to a quick 10-point margin, 14-4, setting the tempo of the game. MDB apparently needed to warm up because at the seven-minute mark, they took the lead and never looked back. It was in effect a Jason London show. He also plays for Head Office. Londons crossovers sprained a few ankles, dimes were dished to his teammates and he let rain his deadly long range shot from beyond the arc to capture the MVP of the All-Star game.

By Mahijah Dellar Davis Alvin Jarvis it is never a good thing to mess with a sleeping lion that knows he is the king of the jungle. Even though basketball has fall off drastically here in Antigua, without any disrespect I still think that we are on top when it comes to the sport of basketball. It real nice to know that you guys are having a lights, Camera, game time in your local league but that doesnt strike the fire in Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One MVP, Mahijah Davis. I like the fact that Barbudans feel like they can dust any team in Antigua and want the challenge. Barbuda you guys are playing amongst yourselves, at what level you guys are playing I really dont know but Antigua basketball players dont back down from any challenge. Jarvis, I am all about the future players of the game so if you and organize your best U-18 male and female teams to also play against us then I will agree to take down my MVP ball shoes so you Barbudans can get a taste of what Dellar have in store for you guys. We always place our main focus on the older athletes and go through the motion with our future athletes, just because it takes a lot of time for germination. I have some firery sick-head basketball females that is tired of competing against each other and want to test their aptitude on others frequently so they can know their level of development as it pertain to basketball. I read the article that Alvin wrote about my coach and I found it quite interesting that Barbuda is calling him out. He told me that he was going to hang up his ball shoes and focus on teaching us the game of basketball from an institutionalize level because he thinks the ball standard has dropped tremendously on the island, said Kishona Kiki Aubrey out of Mahijah Davis training camp. I know coach is not going to back down from that challenge so I am looking forward for those game and in the meantime pick up a few tips. Coach told me the only way he play is if Barbuda can assemble a male and female junior team to go with their senior team and I stand behind him because I would like to test my game on someone else besides my teammates, Aubrey added. Jarvis, Basketball need a new face and we need a better bond between each other and if we can start by competing against each other in a friendly game of basketball then bring it on.

By Mahijah Dellar Davis With five days counting down to the 2009 Cool & Smooth Business League All-Star games tears are trying to see how much wins the can rack up since only eight top teams can make the playoff. A quadruple-header was players on Saturday night at the JSC Sports Complex the underdogs were the highlights of the night as they uprooted some of the top teams. Jack-Idle trampled APUA Head Office (APUAHO) in the first encounter of the evening with a 20-point blowout, 79-59. Jack-Idle came out with a lot of passion from the tipped-off stamping a dominant for on this battle. Head Office were no match for the winners since if seems like everything their opponent do was just prefect. Andrew Venture was the key element for Jack-Idle. He gave his team the all the overtime on the defensive and offensive line, dropping 36 points in the process. Ventures teammate Bryan Ralph chipped in 15 points while Michael Jeffers and Kareem Edwards netted 22 and 15 points respectively for Head Office. Without any coach onboard, Epicurean managed to defeated Zephys Trucking in a very close showdown, 75-70. Both teams are evenly match when it comes to skills so only the team that knows how to execute in crunch time will win this game and Epicurean was that team. Epicurean had three of their main players in high double figures and that also gave them the edge over their opponent since they place the ball in their best offensive players possession. Victor Osborn drained 20 points while his teammates Qwamie Hatton and Sylvester Henry banked 19 points each for Epicurean and Jason Phillip netted 15 for Zephys. APUA Water bagged a win for the night for the company when the defeated ABI Financial Group, 77-56. ABI new recruit Lindsey McDonald couldnt help them from getting a cool water spanking because Sean Williams from APUA Water trigger was extra wet since he dropped 41 points on ABI which was one of his old team in business league. Williams seat the deal for Waters so all his teammate Marlon Davis had to do is just banked 14 points to help out. McDonald netted 19 points in a losing manner and his teammate Vernel Ryan add 12 points. Port Authority tried their best to defeat First Caribbean Investment Bank (FCIB) in the last game of the evening but came up short by three points. This was a tough encounter from start to finish where the best team on this night won. Ishawn Peets, Russel Daley and Raymond Dickerson dropped 22, 15 and 13 points for FCIB and Michael Xavier netted 19 points for the losers.
