ST JOHNS, Antigua - Kareem 'Pudding' Bailey of Coast Outlaws made what turned out to be the winning basket of a highly intense and competitive Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) Division One game, as he gave his team a two-point victory over Newfield Tapers when they met in the feature contest.
Bailey, who finished the contest with just seven points, three assists and four rebounds, made the jump-shot from just inside the offensive paint, as the final buzzer sounded to record the 81-79 victory at JSC Sports Complex.
ST JOHNS, Antigua JSC Outlaws and Freetown Travellers recorded contrasting wins in the Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Associations (ABBA) First Division League at the JSC Sports Complex on Saturday.
Outlaws were pushed all the way before pulling off a 90-81 victory over Akhimo.

Shawn Williams shot a game-high 33 points and Neville Martin produced 21 points, 21 rebounds and four steals to lead Travellers to their lopsided 83-59 victory against Empire Hawks.
Forward Coy Quinland scored 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds and point guard Reginald Styley Joseph chipped in with 15 points for Hawks.
Twenty-four hours earlier at the same venue, Roots and F&G Trading Ovals notched up wins.
Roots beat Newfield Tapers 64-54 with Terry Roberts getting 19 points, 18 rebounds, six steals and four assists, while Bernard Andrew scored 18 points for the victors.
Bryan Ralph had 15 points and four boards, Eric Henry produced 11 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, while Jason Shaw chipped in with 10 points, five boards and three assists for Tapers.
Ovals prevailed 82-71 against Big Banana Express. Forward Bryan Hollywood Matthew sank 28 points and grabbed 23 rebounds and veteran guard Marlon Buju Charles converted 19 points for Ovals.
Guard Lindsay McDonald led Express with 27 points, which included five three-pointers, five boards and five steals. Kareem Blair contributed 15 points and five boards for the losers.

Chief organiser Bobby Joseph told OBSERVER Sports that 14 teams, including two youth teams, would contest the tournament which comprises of nine First Division teams and three from Second Division.
The 14 teams are defending league champions, Ahkimo, the overall play-off champions, Baldwin Spencer Braves, Kenneth A Gomez & Sons United, Big Banana Express, Roots, Ottos Sweet Bs, Vertex, Newfield Tapers, DC Diamonds, Harold Lovell Rockersville, Samantha Marshall Bolans Ravens and Ottos Officials, along with the youth teams, PMS KC Ballers and ABBA Stars.
The tournament, which was rebranded six years ago, will have an opening ceremony during which the teams will be addressed by sports officials and sponsors, after which follows the knock-out finals between Ahkimo and Big Banana Express for a $1,000 purse.
Joseph expressed gratitude to the main sponsor Sandals Foundation which has been on board for the past three years, and also to Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer and Finance Minister Harold Lovell for their role.
The management of Chase Supermarket also came in for praise for their role.
Vivian Boast Destin of Baldwin Braves was the back-to-back tournament MVP in 2011 and 2012.

Paris-Levallois (ProA) added to their roster 29-year old Antiguan ex-international guard Julius Hodge (201-83, college: North Carolina State). He is a dual citizen owning also U.S. Virgin Islands passport. Hodge played last summer at Jiangsu in Chinese NBL league. In 7 games he recorded very impressive stats: 25.6ppg, 18.6rpg, 7.3apg, 2.7spg and 1.0bpg.

His stats at that event were 5 games: Score-4 (18.2ppg), 7.6rpg, Assists-3 (4.4apg), Steals-4 (2.6spg), FGP: 45.6%, FT: 57.6%. Hodge is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Australia, Belarus (Tsmoki-Minsk), Iran (Petrochimi), Italy, Puerto Rico (Vaqueros and Caciques), Venezuela (Marinos and Trotamundos) and Vietnam (Saigon Heat).
