Estudiantes led by two in the final seconds as Gerbaudo attempted a long three point and missed, the long rebound came to midcourt and as Gerbaudo was trying to get a hold of the ball, the officials called for a foul on Diego Rivero with three seconds left. as the game was being televised, Estudiantes assistant coach Alejandro Montecchia tryed to look the replay on the tv monitor and was ejected by offiicial Pablo Estevez, giving 9 de Julio the chance to get 4 free throws and the inbound ball, being down 88-90 with 3 seconds left. Diego Gerbaudo went to the line and scored the first two, tying the game, but missed the last two. On the inbound play he rallied and get a lay-ip to win the game. He finished with 23 points and 4 assits, Ed Nelson added 18 and 7 rebound before fouling out in the final minute. Richard Roby led Estudiantes with 22 points and 9 rebounds while Marcus Fizer added 18.

Marinos de Anzoategui (LPB) added to their roster 32-year old American center Robert Battle (204-104kg-81, college: Drexel, agency: Dream Team Management). It is actually his comeback to Puerto La Cruz as he played here before. Battle just played at Lanus in Argentinian LigaA. In 51 games he recorded 11.9ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.4apg and 1.5bpg this season. The last season Battle played at Libertad Sunchales (LigaA) in Argentina. In 46 games he averaged 14.2ppg, 9.9rpg, 1.8apg, 1.2spg and 1.5bpg. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals. Great season indeed as he was selected Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian LigaA Import Player of the Year, Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian LigaA Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Star Game. The previous (2011) summer Battle was tested by Marinos. In 2003 Battle was drafted by Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs (USBL) in third round (22nd overall). The former Drexel University standoutis in his tenth season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as Battle was voted Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LEB Gold Player of the Year back in 2009. He is quite experienced player. Battle has played also professionally in France, Mexico (Santos), Turkey (Goztepe), Spain (Palma and Blancos de Rueda).
Julian Chiera (196-G/F-91) will be the 4th argentinean to play in NCAA next year. Julian will join University of Southeastern Louisiana in the division I. Julian started to play basketball in club Barrio Parque of Cordoba, Argentina, and then moved to Brazil. He played last two years in Laramie Comunity College.
