After 6 rounds played we can already see who rules in the LigaA and who belongs to weaker ones.

LigaA top team - Lanus (13-5) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Wuber-Est.Bahia (7-10) in Buenos Aires 78-64. The game was mostly controlled by Lanus. Wuber-Est.Bahia managed to win fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by Wuber-Est.Bahia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Italian swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Italian guard Patricio Prato (196-79) chipped in 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Federico Ferrini (194-83) with 17 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lanus have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-5 record, which they share with Regatas C. Wuber-Est.Bahia at the other side keeps the eleventh place with ten games lost. Lanus is looking forward to face league's second-placed Regatas Corrientes on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Wuber-Est.Bahia will play against La Union (#16) in Formosa and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Sixteenth-ranked La Union (4-15) gave a tough game to seventh ranked Quimsa (11-8) in Formosa. The visitors from Santiado Estero managed to secure only two-point victory 76-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The former international forward Sebastian Vega (200-88) notched 13 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Javier Mojica supported him with 16 points. Even 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Terrence Shannon (203-79, college: Elgin CC, agency: Paris Global Sports) did not help to save the game for La Union. Quimsa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Argentino. La Union lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Quimsa will play against Atenas (#8) in Cordoba in the next round. La Union will play on the road against Wuber-Est.Bahia (#11) in Bahia Blanca and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game took place in Villa Angela where higher ranked Libertad Sunchales (11-6) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked Union Progresista (7-11) 98-94 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Darren Phillip who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was Gabriel Mikulas who recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Union Progresista moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Boca Jrs. Loser Libertad Sunchales dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Union Progresista will meet higher ranked Penarol (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Libertad Sunchales will play against Olimpico de La Banda where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
15th ranked 9 de Julio (5-14) was outscored at home by second ranked Regatas Corrientes (13-5) with the biggest margin this round 88-66. It was a good game for Paolo Quinteros who led his team to a victory with 26 points. Regatas Corrientes' coach Nicolas Casalanguida felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Regatas Corrientes have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Lanus. 9 de Julio at the other side keeps the fifteenth place with 14 games lost. Regatas Corrientes' next round opponent will be league's leader Lanus in Buenos Aires and it will be for sure the game of the week. 9 de Julio will play on the road against Boca Juniors (#12) in Buenos Aires.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 6: Obras was destroyed by Olimpico LB on the opponent's court 90-70. Argentino managed to outperform Sionista in a home game 90-85. Penarol managed to beat GECR Indalo on the road 82-72.

Olimpico LB - Obras 90-70

Very expected game when 14th ranked Obras (5-12) was crushed on the road by fourth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (13-7) 90-70. The game was mostly controlled by Olimpico de La Banda. Obras was better in fourth quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American center Sam Clancy (202-80, college: USC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The other American import forward Cedric McGowan (200-85, college: Cincinnati, agency: Court Side) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Olimpico de La Banda players scored in double figures. International forward Pablo Espinoza (200-87) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) added 7 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Obras. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpico de La Banda moved-up to third place. Obras at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Olimpico de La Banda's next round opponent will be Libertad Sunchales (#5) on the road. Obras will play against Argentino (#6) in Junin.

Argentino - Sionista 90-85

Rather predictable result in Junin where sixth ranked Argentino (11-8) defeated 10th ranked Sionista (9-11) 90-85. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Sionista won third quarter 23-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 26 personal fouls committed by Sionista helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Fernando Funes (192-83) who led his team to a victory with 24 points (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Four Argentino and five Sionista players scored in double figures. Sionista's coach Sebastian Svetliza tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Argentino maintains sixth position with 11-8 record, which they share with Quimsa. Sionista at the other side keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Argentino's next round opponent will be Obras (#14) in Buenos Aires and are hoping to win another game. GECR Indalo - Penarol 72-82

Not a big story in a game in Comodoro R. where 9th ranked GECR Indalo (9-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Penarol (12-5) 82-72. It looked good early as GECR Indalo took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Penarol had a 22-8 second period charge getting the lead and GECR Indalo was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-82. Penarol made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Penarol had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. However their fans expected much easier game. La Union was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 24-19 charge of Quimsa, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Quimsa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage.
