Bottom-ranked La Union managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the series of five consecutive loses on Friday night. This time they won against twelfth-ranked GECR Indalo in Formosa 78-67. The game was mostly controlled by La Union. GECR Indalo managed to win third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 25 personal fouls committed by GECR Indalo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Nicolas Gianella (186-78) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and American forward Gregory Lewis (200-78, college: Winthrop, agency: Dream Team Management) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American power forward Kahiem Seawright (203-86, college: Rhode Island, agency: Edge Sports) with 16 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). La Union maintains sixteenth place with 5-18 record. GECR Indalo lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. La Union are looking forward to face league's leader Lanus in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. GECR Indalo will play on the road against Union Progresista (#13) in Villa Angela and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game in Junin was also worth to mention about. Sixth ranked Quimsa (13-9) played at the court of 8th ranked Argentino (11-11). Quimsa defeated Argentino 99-89. The former international forward Sebastian Vega (200-88) nailed 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Ramzee Stanton accounted for 15 points and 9 rebounds. Fernando Funes (192-83) came up with 22 points and 4 assists for Argentino in the defeat. Quimsa maintains sixth place with 13-9 record. Argentino lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Quimsa will play against 9 de Julio (#14) in Rio Tercero in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Argentino will play at home against Libertad Sunchales (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track. An interesting game took place in Rio Tercero where 4th placed Libertad Sunchales (13-7) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked 9 de Julio (7-15) 93-85 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Libertad Sunchales. The best player for the winners was Edward Nelson who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was William Graves who recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds. 9 de Julio moved-up to fourteenth place. Libertad Sunchales at the other side dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. 9 de Julio will meet at home higher ranked Quimsa (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Libertad Sunchales will play against Argentino in Junin and hope to secure a win. Eleventh ranked Boca Juniors (10-11) crushed at home 9th ranked Sionista (10-13) by 21 points 89-68, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a good game for Daniel Santiago who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Boca Juniors have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to ninth place. Sionista at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Boca Juniors' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Regatas Corrientes at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sionista will play against Obras (#15) in Buenos Aires.
There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Lanus won against Union Progr. on the opponent's court 80-65. Olimpico LB managed to outperform Wuber-Est.Bahia in a home game 76-64. Lanus managed to beat La Union on the road 72-68.
Very expected game in Villa Angela where 13th ranked Union Progresista (7-14) was defeated by third ranked Lanus (16-6) 80-65. The game was mostly controlled by Lanus. Union Progresista was better in second period 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Union Progresista 39-20 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for naturalized Italian guard Patricio Prato (196-79) who led his team to a victory with 24 points. American center Robert Battle (204-81, college: Drexel, agency: Dream Team Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Lanus players scored in double figures. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Adrian Moss (203-81, college: Florida) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Union Progresista. Lanus have a solid series of four victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Union Progresista lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth place with 14 games lost. Lanus' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked La Union (#16) in Formosa which should be an easy win for them. Here is the weekly review of the top performing Argentinian players, who play currently abroad. This week's number one is an experienced international small forward Andres Nocioni (199-79), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Caja Laboral (25-9) in their last game. Despite Nocioni's very good performance Caja Laboral lost 80-90 at home to the much lower-ranked (#12) Asefa Estudiantes.

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Argentinian players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced international small forward Andres Nocioni (199-79, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He could not help Caja Laboral (25-9) in their last game. Despite Nocioni's very good performance Caja Laboral lost 80-90 at home to the much lower-ranked (#12) Asefa Estudiantes.
He was the top scorer with 27 points. Nocioni also added 5 rebounds in 32 minutes on the court.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Nocioni is currently eighth on the league's list of top scorers with 13.9ppg.
He also averaged so far 4.9rpg, 2FGP: 55.2%(95-172), 3FGP: 47.4%(55-116) and FT: 77.1% in the 32 games he played so far.
Nocioni has a dual citizenship: Italian and Argentinian.
Ex-Penarol Mar del Plata player is currently a member of the Argentinian senior national team.
#2. Second place goes to an international shooting guard Emanuel Ginobili (198-77, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He was not able to help the San Antonio Spurs (58-24) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Ginobili's very good performance the San Antonio Spurs were defeated in an overtime 97-87 on the road by the Golden State Warriors.
He was the top scorer with 21 points. Ginobili also added 4 rebounds, 3 assists and made 2 blocks.
It's Ginobili's 11th season with the team.
He has individually a very good year with high stats. Ginobili averages: 11.7ppg, 3.5rpg, 4.7apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 46.6%, 3FGP: 35.4% and FT: 77.6%.
He is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.
Ginobili is in the roster of the Argentinian senior national team.
#3. The Argentinian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Nicolas Richotti (181-86, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish ACB. He was not able to secure a victory for CB Canarias (17-17) in their last game. Despite Richotti's very good performance CB Canarias was edged in an overtime 111-108 in Murcia by the lower-ranked (#13) UCAM.
He was the second best scorer with 22 points. Richotti also added 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 41 minutes.
The Regular Season already ended.
This year Richotti's overall stats are: 9.1ppg, 1.8rpg, 2.2apg, 2FGP: 52.7%, 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 80.2% in the 33 games.
Similarly like Ginobili and Nocioni above he has both Argentinian and Italian nationalities.
Richotti is also a member of the Argentinian senior national team.
#4. Point guard Pablo Prigioni (190-77, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the New York Knicks (54-28) in their game against the Indiana Pacers (49-32) in the NBA.
He scored 6 points and added 6 passes.
The New York Knicks were defeated 106-99 in Indianapolis by the Indiana Pacers.
It's Prigioni's first season with the team.
Prigioni's total stats this year are: 3.6ppg, 1.8rpg and 3.0apg.
Similarly like three previous players above, he also holds two passports: Italian and Argentinian.
Prigioni is also Argentinian national team player.
#5. International guard Juan Fernandez (193-90, college: Temple, currently plays in Italy) led C.de Latte BRE to an easy victory against the closely-ranked LeGamberi Foods Forli (16-12) crushing them 99-70 in the Italian Lega2 (second division) last Sunday.
He recorded 15 points, 8 assists and 6 steals in 26 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Fernandez's third season in pro basketball. Centrale del Latte Brescia (17-11) is placed fifth in the Lega2.
Fernandez is currently first on the league's list of best passers with 4.9apg.
This year he also averages: 8.5ppg, 3.1rpg and 2.2spg in the 31 games.
Fernandez plays currently for the Argentinian national team.
#6. Forward Leonardo Mainoldi (203-85, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's victory against the closely-ranked Cajasol (12-22) 76-68 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game.
He recorded 10 points.
Mad-Croc Fuenlabrada (12-22) is placed 14th in the ACB.
They ended the series of four consecutive loses.

Mainoldi is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fifth year in Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's roster.

Despite Musso's very good performance LeGamberi Foods Forli lost 87-97 in Brescia to the higher-ranked (#5) C.de Latte BRE.
He was the second best scorer with 20 points. Musso also added 6 rebounds in 25 minutes.
Musso has relatively good stats this year: 11.6ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.0apg and 1.6spg in the 29 games he played so far.

#3.Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-G-86, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) led Matera to a victory over the closely-ranked Agrigento (20-14) 85-77 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) last Sunday.
Vico was MVP of the game. He recorded 27 points (!!!).
It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Bawer Matera (22-12) is placed second in the Nazionale A.

Pallacanestro Trento 2009 (14-14) is placed eighth in the Lega2.
It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row.
Forray is currently fifth on the league's list of most steals with 2.2spg.

Carrizo recorded 10 points and added 3 assists (made all of his six free throws).
