Gaston
Luchino
Guard Gaston Luchino (183-G-82) put on an amazing game in the last round for Argentino, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17 (Second Stage).
The 30-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, five rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Lanus (#2, 19-9) 88-76. Argentino is placed at 6th position in Argentinian LigaA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier in Second Stage. Argentino will need more victories to improve their 16-13 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Luchino as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Gaston Luchino averages this season 6.7ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was 30-year old American Edward Nelson (203-F-82, agency: Dream Team Management) of 9 de Julio. Nelson had a very good evening with 33 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as 9 de Julio was edged by the higher-ranked GECR Indalo (#10, 13-15) 88-86. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. 9 de Julio keeps 14th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-19 record. Nelson is a newcomer at 9 de Julio, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 18.0ppg (#2). He also registered 7.0 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was Italian center Juan Manuel Torres (210-C-84) of Wuber-Est.Bahia (#12). Torres scored 21 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Wuber-Est.Bahia, leading his team to a 75-61 easy win against the higher-ranked Boca Jrs (#7, 15-12). The chances of Wuber-Est.Bahia ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 15 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Torres could help Wuber-Est.Bahia to bring them higher in the standings. Torres has a very solid season. In 25 games in Argentina he scored 8.8ppg. He also has 5.8rpg and FGP: 53.0%. Juan Manuel Torres has also Argentinian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Adrian Boccia (195-G/F-82) of Lanus - 23 points and 11 rebounds
5. Diego Romero (203-C-82) of GECR Indalo - 22 points and 8 rebounds
6. Hernando Salles (183-G-79) of Olimpico LB - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Gabriel Mikulas (200-F-80) of Libertad S. - 18 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Gregory Lewis (200-F-78) of La Union - 22 points and 9 rebounds
9. Jason Robinson (196-F-80) of GECR Indalo - 21 points and 4 rebounds
10. Damian Tintorelli (204-C-81) of Quimsa - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Capuchinos land Nicolas Boeri - 17 hours ago

Capuchinos de Concordia (TFB) tabbed 27-year old forward Nicolas Boeri (193-89). He played most recently at Hindu in the TNA. In 45 games he averaged 7.1ppg and 2.5rpg last season.
