There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked Regatas Corrientes (21-8) recorded its eighth loss on the court of fifth ranked Libertad Sunchales on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by Libertad Sunchales 95-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Regatas Corrientes. Regatas Corrientes was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Libertad Sunchales made 29-of-32 free shots (90.6 percent) during the game, while Regatas Corrientes only scored eleven points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Regatas Corrientes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican center Ricardo Sanchez (212-87) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Diego Garcia (190-79) chipped in 23 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Jerome Meyinsse (206-88, college: Virginia, agency: Dream Team Management) who recorded 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Regatas Corrientes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Libertad Sunchales maintains fifth position with 17-11 record. Regatas Corrientes at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. Libertad Sunchales are looking forward to face Wuber-Est.Bahia (#12) in Bahia Blanca in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Regatas Corrientes will play at home against Atenas (#9) in Cordoba and is hoping to win this game.
Fourteenth-ranked 9 de Julio (9-20) made lots of trouble for second ranked Lanus (20-9) in Buenos Aires. Lanus managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for naturalized Italian swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Nicolas Laprovittola contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward LaVell Blanchard (201-81, college: Michigan) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds for 9 de Julio. Lanus maintains second position with 20-9 record behind leader Regatas C. 9 de Julio lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth place with 20 games lost. Lanus' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Obras.

David Jackson notched 24 points to lead the effort. GECR Indalo have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position with 14-15 record. Newly promoted Argentino keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. GECR Indalo's next round opponent will be higher ranked Boca Juniors (#7) in Buenos Aires and it may be quite challenging game.
An interesting game took place in Villa Angela, where higher ranked Olimpico de La Banda (18-12) lost to thirteenth ranked Union Progresista (10-18) in a road game 68-78 on Friday. The best player for the winners was Darren Phillip who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Newly promoted Union Progresista maintains thirteenth position with 10-18 record. Loser Olimpico de La Banda keeps the fourth place with 12 games lost. Union Progresista will face higher ranked Argentino (#6) in Junin in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Olimpico de La Banda will play on the road against Sionista in Parana.

Rest of the games of round 18 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Obras was defeated by Wuber-Est.Bahia in Bahia Blanca 80-76. Penarol smashed Boca Jrs at home 97-78. Sionista won against Quimsa on the opponent's court 80-73.


La Union - Atenas 87-77

Bottom-ranked La Union managed to get a eighth victory on Friday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Atenas in Formosa 87-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Atenas. The game was mostly controlled by La Union. Atenas managed to win third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) notched 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and center Diego Romero (203-82, college: Florida St.) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) by the former international point guard Nicolas De los Santos (180-88) did not help to save the game for Argentino. There was no surprise in Bahia Blanca where 15th ranked Obras (8-20) was defeated by twelfth ranked Wuber-Est.Bahia (12-15) 80-76 on Friday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 27-19. But Obras won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Obras 40-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Wuber-Est.Bahia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international Hernan Jasen (199-78) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds.
