Shannon
Experienced American Terrence Shannon (203-F-79, agency: Paris Global Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for La Union and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18 (Second Stage).
The 33-year old forward had the game-high 26 points adding eight rebounds for La Union in his team's victory, helping them to beat Atenas (#9, 15-15) 87-77. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on the top of the standings. La Union maintains the 16th position in Argentinian LigaA. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. La Union have already lost 22 games and recorded just eight victories. In the team's last game Shannon had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. He turned to be La Union's top player in his first season with the team. Terrence Shannon averages this season 15.7ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old Puerto Rican center Ricardo Sanchez (212-C-87) of Libertad S.. Sanchez impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Libertad S. cruised to a 95-83 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Regatas C. (#1, 21-8). Libertad S.'s 5th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 17-11 record is not bad and everything may still change. Sanchez is a newcomer at Libertad S. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was British Darren Phillip (201-F-78) of Union Progr. (#13). Phillip scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Union Progr., leading his team to a 78-68 win against the higher-ranked Olimpico LB (#4, 18-12). The chances of Union Progr. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 18 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Phillip could try to bring Union Progr.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Phillip has individually a great season in Argentina. After 26 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.4ppg (best scorer) and rebounds with 11.7rpg (#1 in league).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Facundo Campazzo (179-PG-91) of Penarol - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 11 assists
5. David Teague (196-G-83) of Penarol - 32 points and 6 rebounds
6. Diego Garcia (190-G-79) of Libertad S. - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Marcos Mata (201-SF-86) of Penarol - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
8. David Jackson (196-G-82) of GECR Indalo - 24 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Adrian Boccia (195-G/F-82) of Lanus - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Jerome Meyinsse (206-C-88) of Regatas C. - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
