Hello blog follwers Whats up blog follwers, alot has changed since I last blogged,I won the title with penarol,4 to 1 against a very good atenas team, bringing my titles to 3 in my first season, where do I go from here, lol.I did not play as well as I would have liked to but we won so thats all that matters! Now the season was over, off season but its just as stressful,if not more wondering, where will I end up next season.First thought was to try and resign with pena and make another title run, after long negotiations,an agreement could not be reached and it was time to look else where.Alot of teams where interested but I took what I feel is the best situation and team for me,so now I am blogging from one of the most beautifull places in the world,Rio De Janerio,Brazil!!!!!!!! My team name is Flamengo, and looks to be a very good strong team even with out the leading scorer from last season, (Marcelinho Machado (199-F/G-75, agency: Interperformances) )who's in europe with the national team preparing for the world championships,I cant image the team when he returns, should be fun,and a title contending team! Last season he lead brazil in scoring, but fell short in the finals 3 to 2,just like last season when I joined pena, who fell short in the finals,I hope the outcome is the same with me on the team.We also have a former lottery pick on our team who spent 2 seasons in toronto and 1 in Utah,Baby Araujo (211-C-80, college: BYU) seems to be a force down low on the court, and from just a short time meeting him, seems to be a even better person off the court,he joked with me and even transalated to the team for me. The rest of my new brothers (teammates) look to be very good as well,I have not learned and remembered everyone's name but im sure they'll be in my next blogs to come.Again I have been blessed to play for a team with a strong fan following, the fans here are known as 'the Nation,' and from what I seen on youtube, should be easy to get pumped and play thru anything with them behind me,as i look up into the sea of fans, wearing there red and black!!!! Another reason why I loved this situation is my wife and children are here in brazil with me.I missed them like crazy last season and dreamed to have them here with me and now my dream is a reality.Im excited we get to experience other cultures together and I could be the train that they ride to do so.I really want my kids to pick up the portuguse,so they can be bilingual, which goes a long way for there future. My wife rercently finished her masters and is letting her hair down on the beaches of Rio!!! Our place is located on the beach with a wonderful view of the waves crashing on the shore and we read online that its perfectly fine to go to the beach everyday of the year in Rio,I mean its there winter time and its 70 and people are on the beach now, should be fun!Our mothers are planning a visit and that should be even more fun!!! Lastly I am very prideful of my area (,Davenport,IA,Quad Cities,USA),not alot of people from there make it to the blue beaches of brazil so,I am going to do my best to represent us and let the whole brazil know about my little area in the states,QC we here, lets get it,see if I can bring us another Chip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <<>><<>>

Whats up Blog Follwers, sorry for the delay!!! Well alot has changed since the last time I updated my blog! First in the quarter finals we took on a Tough Lanus team coming off of a great upset victory in the first round of the playoffs! We beat them 3-0 with 2 out of the 3 games being really close. They had great inside play from Terrel Taylor, who is a force down low!! In the Semi Finals,we faced a tough, grind out, never go away, nothing pretty or fancy just play hard Boca Jrs team,We again won this series 3-0 and again 2 out of the 3 games were close and could have went either way. They got terrific guard play from Cedric Moodie, scoring 30 points in 2 out of the 3 games,he can shoot the three, attack the basket and make free throws, what a player!!!! Now in the finals we face a tough Atenas team, that finished second in the league this season, that has historically won alot of titles in this league and has always had great players! Adding to the tention of the finals,as if there isnt already enough with it being the finals is that Penarol has been in the last three finals including this one and could not get over hump.Another factor is,now on our team we have Leo Gutteriez, who was a very big part of Atenas beating penarol in the finals a year ago.Its shaping up to be a very good best of seven series.I know that mean people feel we have an advantages because while we swept thru both the quarter and semi finals,Atenas went to game 5 in both of there series,10 games to 6,seems as if we have the upper hand but I do not all the way agree,They are still in game form while we have been what some call resting,I call picking up rust.It make take us a few minutes to get our seas legs back and in Playoff basketball, you dont have a minute to waste, all 40 minutes count,I am ready to get back on the court, and make a title run,Estoy listo,Vamo Penarol!!!!!!!!!
Lastly I would love to win this championship for my Family, the staff of Penarol, the city of Mar Del Plata and the Quad Cities!!!!! I am very prideful in where I come from Davenport,Iowa 563 (Quad Cities,a few hours west of Chicago for those who were wondering) not alot of people know where that is or anything about it so I try and represent everytime I step on the court, the love I get at home is crazy,I love yall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Latinbasket,In my second blog,i'm going to tell you about my life in the great country of Argentina.First the basketball side of it,my team finished the regular season number 1,this was a goal of ours so we could have home court adantage throughout the playoffs.Im really blessed to be apart of a great team and a great situation,my team is loaded with talent! this season alone we have won many things this season both as a team and individually, here's the list: my coach Sergio Hernandez was coach of the year,he is a great coach and an unbelievable person, just a very cool person, easy to get along with, but still can crack his whip if he needs to,Leo Gutierrez was league MVP along with league power foward of the year,he has a gold medal,I cant imagine what that felt like winning that for your country,Tato Rodriguez was the point guard of the year,he is really good at using his strenghts, not the fastest nor does he jump the highest but he just finds away,he is the capitan of our ship,Facu Campazzo was rookie of the year,he is 18 years old and he can play!,I could not imagine myself playing in this league at 18,and the rest of team all have played for their country at one point in time,a group of great players as well as good people, just wish I spoke more spanish so I was able to talk and joke with them more, looks like they having a great time. My team has won a few tournaments as well, they were super 8 champions,we went to Panama City and won the pool D in the fiba liga de americas,we hosted the final four of this tourny in our city and we won that as well, this is a huge tournament which features all the best teams from Argentina,Brazil,Mexico,Puerto Rico and Uruguay just to name a few.Yesterday we won the interliga,in which the top 4 teams from Brazil play the top 4 teams from Argentina. All of these things are really nice and they are fun now but we now set our sights on the league title,I feel like we have set the bar so high that anything less than being champions would be a failure. Our team has been givin alot of praise and with that comes a huge bullseye on your back and everybody lookin to gun you down.We can never have a night were we are not ready to play because no team is going to come and lay down because of all the things we done,we get everyone's best shot, now its on us to respond to the challenge,I know we are capable, now we just have to do it,time will tell.........Vamo Pena...lol my spanish!!!!!! Now about the country, the City I live in is Mar Del Plata,Buenos Aires and sits on the Atlantic Ocean. It is a vacation city with alot of people coming to live here for the summer months here in Argentina, which are December,January and Febuary. It is getting a little colder and that has caused the population to drop with everyone returning to their homes. The food that is most common here is 'asado' which is like a barbeque, this is a big cow country, which is great for me because I don't eat pork. Yesterday at our celebration I tried cow brain, hey you only live once, but thats the last time i'll do that.My teammates tell me that we eat everything off of the cow.The people here are really nice and want to talk with you,but when I tell them my little spanish that I have been working on,they take it as I speak spanish and start takling so fast, lol,im just not ready for that yet! Everyday when im out,Im greeted by the fans, they honk from there cars, yell vamo pena from across the street or where ever they maybe, sometimes they want me to take pictures, its crazy,i've taking alot of pics, something I could have never imagined myself doing, that and sign autographs.I often chat with some of the fans on facebook when I can!!! So all in all,I just love the idea of being abroad and getting paid to do what you love, something that I would be doing for free if I was not able to play professionally.getting to experience this culture and meeting new people is all new to me so im just trying to soak the whole thing in.Lastly,Im very prideful of where I come from Daenport,IA (Quad Cities 563/309)not many people know where that is so I try to represent everytime I play, the love I get at home is crazy,I love yall!!!!!!
P.S: Im sure everyone missed it but the one person that was spposed to,in my last blog I said I spent time with my children, correction,I spent time with my fiance and children,Sorry about that one,Im sure most of the guys can understand about not wanting to be in the dog house or couch when I get home....lol!!!
