Steffphon
Pettigrew
American Forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-F-89, agency: HMS) had an amazing evening in the last round for Penarol, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 36.
The 27-year old player was the main contributor (34 points, six rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush Boca Jrs (#10, 11-27) with 18-point margin 89-71. Penarol maintains the 8th position in their group in Argentinian LigaA. Penarol is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 15-24 record. In the team's last game Pettigrew had a remarkable 70.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Penarol and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Steffphon Pettigrew averages just after two games 24.5ppg and 7.0rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old American Rodney Green (196-G/F-88) of Instituto. Green had a very good evening with 33 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Instituto was edged by slightly lower-ranked Obras Basket (#5, 18-20) 97-95. Instituto managed to keep the same 3rd spot in Sur. His team's 23-15 record is not bad at all. Green is a newcomer at Instituto, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.4ppg (#2). He also registered 4.6 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American Jeremiah Wood (200-C/F-85, agency: Inception Sports) of league's top team San Martin C.. Wood showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. Despite Wood's great performance San Martin C. lost 78-83 to #2 ranked Estudiantes C.. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing San Martin C. needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in Norte. Their record is 26 victories and 10 lost games. Wood has a great season in Argentina. After 34 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.0rpg (5th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Fotios Lampropoulos (206-PF-83) of Boca Jrs - 24 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Walter Herrmann (206-F-79) of Obras Basket - 30 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Justin Williams (206-F/C-84) of Olimpico LB - 12 points and 12 rebounds
7. Federico Van Lacke (191-SG-80) of Olimpico LB - 24 points and 3 rebounds
8. Bruno Labaque (178-PG-77) of Atenas - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists
9. Diego Gerbaudo (178-PG-89) of Atenas - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Anibal Marin (199-G/F-82) of Estudiantes C. - 26 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
