The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Estudiantes O. (18-9) in La Plata on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Gimnasia LP (9-19) 73-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Estudiantes O.. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 49-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Leonardo La-Bella (180-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 assists and American forward Joe Efese (198, college: Cent.Conn.St.) who added 14 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. At the losing side swingman Santiago Arese (196-87) responded with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Gimnasia LP maintains sixth position with 9-19 record. Estudiantes O. at the other side still keeps top place with nine games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Santa Fe. Fourth ranked Salta Basket (13-15) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging top-ranked Union SF (23-7) 96-95 on Wednesday evening. The winners were led by Nigerian-American power forward Ike Okoye (206-86, college: Boise St., agency: Aspire Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and LaQuan Prowell supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Even 38 points (!!!) by swingman Bruno Barovero (194-90) did not help to save the game for Union SF. Union SF's coach Daniel Beltramo rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Salta Basket maintains fourth position with 13-15 record. Union SF at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. Salta Basket will play against BHY Tiro Federal (#4) in Morteros in the next round. Union SF will play at home against the league's leader Hindu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Plaza Huincul between Petr.Argentino and CA Platense. Sixth ranked Petr.Argentino (9-18) got a very close home victory over 3rd ranked CA Platense (14-14). Petr.Argentino managed to escape with a 2-point win 73-71 on Sunday evening. Darnell Dodson fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Petr.Argentino's coach Daniel Jaule used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Kevin Young produced 14 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Petr.Argentino maintains sixth position with 9-18 record, which they share with Obera TC. Loser CA Platense keeps the third place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Temperley. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of first ranked Ciclista (18-13) against fourth ranked Huracan (17-12) on Sunday night. Visiting Ciclista was defeated by Huracan in Trelew 81-71. It was a very good performance for Jerome Hill who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Huracan moved-up to third place. Ciclista at the other side still keeps top position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked CA Platense (14-14) against fourth ranked Huracan (17-12) on Friday night. Visiting CA Platense was defeated by Huracan in a tough game in Trelew 85-91. Worth to mention a great performance of Jerome Hill who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 9 rebounds. Huracan moved-up to third place which they share with defeated CA Platense. Comunicaciones - Villa Angela 61-76

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Mercedes where their biggest opponent Comunicaciones (22-9) was defeated by third ranked Villa Angela (18-12) 76-61 on Monday. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 15 points. Villa Angela made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game.
