Here is the weekly review of the top performing Argentinian players, who play currently abroad.

Manu Ginobili

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international guard Manu Ginobili (198-77, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA). He led San Antonio Spurs to a victory over the Sacramento Kings (25-41) 114-104 in the NBA on Wednesday night. Ginobili was MVP of the game. He recorded 19 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes on the court. The San Antonio Spurs have a very solid 51-14 record this season. It's Ginobili's 15th year with the team. Ginobili has relatively good stats this year: 7.8ppg, 2.4rpg, 2.6apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 38.9%, 3FGP: 39.0% and FT: 81.1% in 56 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian. Ginobili is currently a member of the Argentinian senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91, currently plays in Spain). He could not help UCAM Murcia (8-15) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Campazzo's very good performance UCAM Murcia was edged 73-70 on the road by the much higher-ranked FC Barcelona (#6). He was the top scorer with 20 points. Campazzo also added 4 assists. This season Campazzo has relatively solid stats: 15.0ppg, 2.7rpg, 5.9apg, 1.8spg, 2FGP: 50.8% and FT: 82.1%. He is in the roster of the Argentinian senior national team.

   #3. The Argentinian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international point guard Nicolas Laprovittola (193-90, currently plays in Spain). He contributed to Baskonia's victory against the 13th-ranked Valencia Basket (5-17) 71-63 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. Laprovittola scored 6 points. Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz (16-7) is placed fourth in the Liga Endesa. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Laprovittola's overall stats this season are: 5.7ppg, 1.2rpg, 4.2apg, 2FGP: 33.3%, 3FGP: 31.6% and FT: 90.9%. He is also a member of the Argentinian senior national team.

Point guard Nicolas Richotti (183-86, currently plays in Basketball Champions League) managed to help Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias to win against the fourth-ranked PAOK (7-7) crushing them 80-54 in the Basketball Champions League last Wednesday. He scored 5 points. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (11-3) is placed first in group D. Richotti has been at the team for seven years. This season Richotti averages only 2.7ppg. He is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian. Richotti is also Argentinian national team player.

   #5. International center Marcos Delia (211-92, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Facundo Campazzo. But that was another game of his team in Spanish Liga Endesa which we would like to mention. Delia contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Andorra (11-11) crushing them 77-53. He scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 18 minutes. Universidad Catolica de Murcia CB (8-15) is placed 13th in the Liga Endesa. It's Delia's first season with the team. This year Delia's overall stats are: 6.4ppg and 3.3rpg in 23 games. He has both Argentinian and Italian nationalities. Delia plays currently for the Argentinian national team.

   #6. Forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Austria) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams UBSC Graz (6-20) crushing them 108-51 in the Austrian A Bundesliga last Sunday. He scored 15 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 25 minutes. Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions (13-13) are placed sixth in the A Bundesliga. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Vay is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Arkadia Lions' roster. Vay has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 18.6ppg, 8.2rpg, 3.4apg and 1.3spg in 24 games. Vay is a former international player as he played for the Argentinian senior team eight years ago.

   #7. Former U18 international center Luciano Tognon (205-94, currently plays in Chile) was not able to help Universidad de Concepcion in their game against Espanol de Talca (17-13) in the Chilean Liga Nacional. Tognon recorded 7 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in 19 minutes. The second-placed Universidad de Concepcion (20-10) lost 74-86 in Talca to the lower-ranked (#3) Espanol de in the Conferencia Centro. This year Tognon's total stats are: 1.7ppg and 2.2rpg in 27 games. He used to play for the Argentinian U18 national team five years ago.

   #8. Guard Juan Fernandez (193-90, college: Temple, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Leche Rio Breogan (17-9) in their game against Gipuzkoa (19-8) in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). He scored 6 points and added 4 assists. Leche Rio Breogan was defeated 92-86 in San Sebastian by the leading Gipuzkoa. They ended the series of four consecutive victories. Fernandez has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 3.1apg. He used to play for the Argentinian national team back in 2014.

The list of other players, who all have Argentinian passport but never been selected to any of Argentinian national teams:

   #1. Ariel Filloy (189-PG-87, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) led Umana Venezia to a victory over the 11th-ranked The Flexx PT (10-12) 78-71 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Filloy recorded 20 points and added 3 passes in 20 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (14-8) is placed second in the Serie A. It's Filloy's first season with the team. This year he averages: 7.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 2.6apg in 19 games he played so far. Filloy has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian. Despite his Argentinian passport, Filloy previously played for the Italian U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Argentinian team.

   #2. Daniel Hure (200-PF-85, currently plays in Brazil) could not help Paulistano (11-7) in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance Paulistano was defeated 74-67 in a derby game by the lower-ranked Pinheiros (#7). Hure was the top scorer with 15 points. He also added 3 steals. This season Hure averages: 9.8ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.4apg.

   #3. Andres Forray (187-PG-86, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Dolomiti En. TR's victory against the 13th-ranked Juvecaserta (9-13) 76-66 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Forray scored 12 points and had 4 steals in 21 minutes. Dolomiti Energia Trento (12-9) is placed fifth in the Serie A. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. Forray has been at the team for six years. This season his overall stats are: 5.9ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.9apg and 1.4spg in 21 games. Forray is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.

   #4. Tulio Cobos (197-F-86, college: Northeastern St., currently plays in Venezuela) helped Bucaneros win their game against the second-ranked Gigantes (3-1) 89-83 in the Venezuelan LPB in Saturday night's game. Cobos recorded 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 25 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in Conference Eastern. Bucaneros de La Guaira (5-3) is placed first in Eastern Conference. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Cobos has reliable stats this year: 11.4ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.1apg in eight games.

   #5. Damian Palacios (177-PG-85, currently plays in Brazil) was not able to help CR Vasco Da Gama Rio de Janeiro in their game against Flamengo (16-6) in the Brazilian NBB. He recorded 8 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. CR Vasco Da Gama Rio de Janeiro was defeated 94-86 in a derby game by the leading Flamengo. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Palacios' total stats this season are: 4.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 1.7apg.

   #6. Bruno Cerella (194-G/F-86, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to secure a victory for Armani Milano in their game against Maccabi T-A in the Euroleague. He cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. Cerella recorded only 3 points. His team was defeated 92-82. This season he averages just 2.0ppg. Cerella has both Argentinian and Italian nationalities.

   #7. Experienced Santiago Boffelli (197-G/F-83, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in Scauri's surprising victory against the leader Napoli Cuore 76-72 in the Italian Serie B (third division) in Sunday night's game. He was the best player in that game. Boffelli scored 22 points and grabbed 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) in 37 minutes. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Boffelli averages: 18.0ppg, 4.9rpg, 1.6apg and 1.3spg in 21 games. He also holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.

   #8. Dante Richotti (180-PG-85, currently plays in Italy) is a teammate of previously mentioned Santiago Boffelli and both played together in the last Italian Serie B game. Richotti was the major contributor in Scauri's shocking victory against the leader Napoli Cuore 76-72. He scored 20 points and added 6 assists. Richotti's total stats this season are: 9.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 4.6apg and 1.8spg. Similarly like Boffelli and Cerella above he holds both Argentinian and Italian passports.

   #9. Brian Savoy (189-SG-92, currently plays in Switzerland) helped Neuchatel win their game against the league outsider Winterthur 75-59 in the Swiss LNA in Saturday night's game. Savoy scored 11 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Savoy has reliable stats this season: 13.3ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.5apg and 1.1spg. He has dual citizenship: Argentinian and Swiss.

   #10. Erik Thomas (196-F-95, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped New Orleans win their game against the Sam Houston State University 75-63 in the NCAA last Friday. Thomas recorded 18 points and added 3 passes (made all of his ten free throws !!!) in 34 minutes. Thomas has very impressive stats this year: 19.5ppg, 7.7rpg, 2.3apg and 1.5spg in 29 games. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Thomas has never played in Argentina.

AL THORNTON experienced 34-year old American forward Al Thornton (203-97kg-83, college: Florida State) left Salta Basket (LigaA). In 14 games in Argentina he had 14.3ppg and 3.9rpg this season. The last summer Thornton played at Brujos in Puerto Rican BSN where in 6 games he recorded very impressive stats: 16.7ppg and 5.7rpg. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL. The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked CA Platense (21-8) in Colon on Monday night.
