The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 38 in the LigaA took place in Buenos Aires. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Ferrocarril (24-14) to seventh ranked Argentino (19-20) 66-64 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. American guard Novar Gadson (201-89, college: Rider, agency: DTMones) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import power forward Chaz Crawford (207-84, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Arn Lucas (197-89) replied with 12 points for Ferrocarril. Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Argentino moved-up to sixth place. Ferrocarril at the other side keeps the second position with 14 games lost. Argentino are looking forward to face higher ranked Regatas Corrientes (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ferrocarril will play against Quilmes MP and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Corrientes. Eighth ranked Penarol (16-25) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging higher ranked Regatas Corrientes (23-14) 91-89 on Monday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Regatas Corrientes. American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (196-89, college: W.Kentucky, agency: HMS) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Alejandro Diez chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. The former international Paolo Quinteros (188-79) responded with 28 points and 6 assists. Regatas Corrientes' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Penarol maintains eighth position with 16-25 record. Regatas Corrientes at the other side keeps the third place with 14 games lost. Penarol will play against La Union (#8) in Formosa in the next round. Regatas Corrientes will play on the road against Obras Basket (#5) in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Buenos Aires between Obras Basket and Argentino. Sixth ranked Obras Basket (20-21) got a very close home victory over 7th ranked Argentino (19-20). Obras Basket managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Friday evening. Matias Bortolin notched 18 points and 4 assists to lead the effort. Obras Basket's coach Nicolas Casalanguida used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 27 points by Novar Gadson did not help to save the game for Argentino. Obras Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with GECR Indalo. Loser Argentino dropped to the sixth position with 20 games lost. Obras Basket will meet at home higher ranked Regatas Corrientes (#3) in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Argentino will play against Regatas Corrientes and hope to secure a win.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Weber Bahia (21-15) against sixth ranked Obras Basket (20-21) on Monday night. Visiting Weber Bahia was crushed by Obras Basket in Buenos Aires 94-71. The best player for the winners was Tomas Zanzottera who scored 32 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Obras Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with GECR Indalo. Weber Bahia at the other side keeps the third position with 15 games lost. Obras Basket's next round opponent will be higher ranked Regatas Corrientes (#3) at home and it may be the game of the week. Weber Bahia will play against the league's leader San Lorenzo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Weber Bahia (21-15) against sixth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (22-19) on Thursday night. Host Weber Bahia was defeated by Olimpico de La Banda in Bahia Blanca 80-69. Maximiliano Stanic orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 8 assists. Weber Bahia's coach Sebastian Ginobili gave the chance to play for eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Olimpico de La Banda maintains sixth position with 22-19 record. Loser Weber Bahia keeps the third place with 15 games lost. Olimpico de La Banda will face Atenas (#9) in Cordoba in the next round. Weber Bahia will play at home against the league's leader San Lorenzo (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 38: Atenas was beaten by Quimsa on the road 91-80. GECR Indalo won against La Union on its own court 99-95. Instituto unfortunately lost to Echague in Parana 100-109. San Lorenzo rolled over La Union at home 88-64. Instituto was defeated by Libertad S. on the opponent's court 77-86. Regatas C. beat Quimsa in a home game 94-82. La Union lost to Boca Jrs on the road 87-103. San Lorenzo managed to outperform Hispano Am. on its own court 91-80. Quimsa recorded a loss to San Martin C. in Corrientes 93-78.

Obras Basket - Weber Bahia 94-71

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Weber Bahia (21-15) against sixth ranked Obras Basket (20-21) on Monday night. Visiting Weber Bahia was crushed by Obras Basket in Buenos Aires 94-71. It looked good early as Weber Bahia took a 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Obras Basket took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 23 points. They made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Obras Basket outrebounded Weber Bahia 38-22 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Tomas Zanzottera (192-93) who scored 32 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). American forward Dennis Horner (205-88, college: N.Carolina St.) chipped in 17 points. Guard Maximo Fjellerup (195-97) produced 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Panamanian power forward Jamaal Levy (206-83, college: Wake Forest) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Quimsa (22-18) beat 9th ranked Atenas (13-24) in Santiado Estero 91-80 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Quimsa. Atenas was better in third quarter 30-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Carl Elliott (193-83, college: G.Washington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Quimsa players scored in double figures. American Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and forward Lisandro Rasio (198-90, agency: Pro Sports) added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Atenas. Rather expected game when 8th ranked La Union (18-22) lost to fifth ranked GECR Indalo (20-21) in Comodoro R. 95-99 on Monday. La Union was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. GECR Indalo made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. The former international Carlos Schattmann (193-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. The former international point guard Nicolas De-los-Santos (180-88) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Four GECR Indalo players scored in double figures. Forward Facundo Pinero (200-88) replied with 24 points and the former international swingman Alexis Elsener (196-88) added 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for La Union. GECR Indalo moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Obras Basket. La Union lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 22 games lost. American swingman Brandon Davis (198-88, college: Lamar, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American John DeGroat (201-85, college: Pittsburgh) replied with 34 points (!!!) and his fellow American import swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) added 24 points in the effort for Instituto. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Echague maintains tenth position with 7-32 record. Instituto lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 17 games lost. Echague will have a break next round. Instituto will play at home against the league's second-placed Estudiantes C. (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
