Darren
Phillip
Instituto Atletico Central Cordoba (LigaA) added to their roster experienced 39-year old American (has also British passport) power forward Darren Phillip (201-107kg-78, college: Fairfield, agency: DTMones). He started the season at CDU Concepcion in Chilean Liga Nacional. In 5 games he recorded very impressive stats: 20.4ppg, 11.4rpg, 2.0apg and 1.4spg this season. The last season Phillip played at Olimpico de La Banda where in 63 LigaA games he averaged 10.6ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.9apg. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals.
In 2000 Phillip was drafted by Brooklyn Kings (USBL) as #4 pick overall.
The former Fairfield University staris in his 17th (!!!) season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team won Puerto Rican Manuel Zeno Gandia Cup in 2015. Phillip was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Argentinian LigaA Import Player of the Year back in 2013.
He is quite experienced player. Phillip's career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in four different countries. Phillip tasted the life as pro basketball player in Europe, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Spain (Unicaja Malaga, Sevilla and Zaragoza), Puerto Rico (Leones, Atleticos, Manati and Indios), Argentina (Sionista, Quimsa and Villa Angela) and ABA (S.Island S.).
It's very possible he may end his playing career at Instituto.
On Phillip: A very aggresive player, great rebounder and defender. Excellent team player and good guy, has a great playing experience against many NBA players at the Rucker Park Tournament in New York City.
