Experienced American Larry O'Bannon (192-G-83, agency: Interperformances) put on an amazing game in the last round for Hispano Am. and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 37. The 34-year old guard had the game-high 40 points adding five rebounds for Hispano Am. in his team's victory, helping them to beat Quimsa (#5, 21-14) 77-70. Hispano Am. is placed at 11th position in Argentinian LigaA. Hispano Am. is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 16-18 record. In the team's last game O'Bannon had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. It's his second year at Hispano Am. and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Larry O'Bannon averages this season 19.0ppg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old Cuban center Jasiel Rivero (204-C-93, agency: Pro Sports) of Estudiantes C.. Rivero impressed basketball fans with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led Estudiantes C. to another comfortable win 92-76 over the higher-ranked Argentino (#10, 17-19) being unquestionably team leader. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Estudiantes C. keeps 14th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 14-19 record. Rivero is well-known by Estudiantes C. fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.7ppg (#9). He also registered 5.6 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Anthony Kent (208-F/C-83, agency: DTMones) of ARGENTINO (#10). Kent scored 23 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Argentino, leading his team to a 91-89 win against the lower-ranked Comunicaciones (#15, 13-22). The chances of Argentino ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 19 games, recording just seventeen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Kent could help Argentino to bring them higher in the standings. Kent has a very solid season. In 31 games in Argentina he scored 11.4ppg. He also has 6.9rpg and FGP: 64.5%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Franco Balbi (185-PG-89) of Ferrocarril - 33 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists 5.
