The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 40 in the LigaA took place in Corrientes. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Regatas Corrientes (25-16) to second ranked Ferrocarril (27-15) 95-92 in the game for the second place. Ferrocarril looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Naturalized Spanish guard Jonathan Maldonado (188-90) fired 24 points and 5 assists for the winners. Arn Lucas (197-89) chipped in 18 points. Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international Paolo Quinteros (188-79) produced 25 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Ferrocarril maintains second position with 27-15 record having just one point less than leader San Lorenzo. Regatas Corrientes at the other side keeps the third place with 16 games lost. Ferrocarril are looking forward to face La Union (#8) in Formosa in the next round where they are favorite. Regatas Corrientes' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Corrientes San Martin Corrientes.
Important game to mention about took place in Cordoba. Ninth ranked Atenas (15-25) saved a 1-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Estudiantes C. (29-15) 95-94 on Tuesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Worth to mention a great performance of American Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Diego Lo-Grippo contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Jordanian Dar Tucker (193-88, college: De Paul) replied with 30 points and 7 rebounds for Estudiantes C.Atenas maintains ninth position with 15-25 record. Estudiantes C. at the other side keeps the second place with 15 games lost. Atenas will play against higher ranked Libertad Sunchales (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Estudiantes C. will play against GECR Indalo (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in La Banda between Olimpico de La Banda and Instituto. Fifth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (24-19) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Instituto (25-19). Olimpico de La Banda managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 on Wednesday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Federico Van-Lacke who helped to win the game recording 29 points. At the losing side Rodney Green responded with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Olimpico de La Banda have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 24-19 record. Loser Instituto dropped to the fourth place with 19 games lost. Olimpico de La Banda will meet at home Penarol (#8) in the next round. Instituto will play against Libertad Sunchales (#7) and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Mar del Plata. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Quilmes MP (18-22) to sixth ranked Argentino (22-21) 97-94 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Novar Gadson who scored that evening 22 points and 4 assists. Argentino have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with GECR Indalo. Quilmes MP lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 22 games lost. Argentino's next round opponent will be higher ranked Weber Bahia (#3) in Bahia Blanca and it may be the game of the week. Quilmes MP will play at home against the league's leader San Martin Corrientes (#1) and hope to win that game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Corrientes. First ranked San Martin Corrientes faced their biggest opponent Ferrocarril. Host San Martin Corrientes (30-10) defeated guests from Buenos Aires (27-15) 77-65. Matias Lescano fired 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. San Martin Corrientes have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 30-10 record. Loser Ferrocarril keeps the second place with 15 games lost. San Martin Corrientes will face Quilmes MP (#7) in Mar del Plata in the next round where they are favorite. Ferrocarril will play on the road against La Union (#8) in Formosa and hope to win that game.

Rest of the games of round 40 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Obras Basket was defeated by Libertad S. in Sunchales 84-78. Atenas beat Boca Jrs at home 76-75. Instituto won against Quimsa on the opponent's court 80-75. Penarol unfortunately lost to Argentino in a home game 74-83. Echague recorded a loss to GECR Indalo on the road 80-97. San Lorenzo defeated Regatas C. on its own court 99-86. La Union was smashed by Weber Bahia in Bahia Blanca 99-63. Hispano Am. won against Echague at home 88-87. La Union unfortunately lost to Argentino on the opponent's court 72-84. Boca Jrs was rolled over Regatas C. in a home game 64-84. Quimsa was defeated by GECR Indalo on the road 94-80.

Libertad S. - Obras Basket 84-78

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Obras Basket (21-22) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Libertad Sunchales (20-20) 84-78 on Saturday. American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St., agency: Diamond Sports) fired 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Dennis Horner (205-88, college: N.Carolina St.) produced 17 points and 8 rebounds and Tomas Zanzottera (192-93) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Libertad Sunchales maintains seventh position with 20-20 record. Loser Obras Basket dropped to the sixth place with 22 games lost. Libertad Sunchales will face higher ranked Instituto (#4) in Cordoba in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.

A very interesting game took place in Mar del Plata. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Quilmes MP (18-22) to sixth ranked Argentino (22-21) 97-94 on Saturday evening. Argentino made 26-of-33 charity shots (78.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Quilmes MP helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American guard Novar Gadson (201-89, college: Rider, agency: DTMones) who scored that evening 22 points and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Chaz Crawford (207-84, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) supported him with 18 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Even 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by American Tracy Robinson (201-86, college: Loyola, IL) did not help to save the game for Quilmes MP. International guard Luca Vildoza (190-95) added 19 points and 4 assists for lost side. Five Argentino and four Quilmes MP players scored in double figures. Rather predictable result in Mar del Plata where sixth ranked Argentino (22-21) beat 8th ranked Penarol (16-28) 83-74 on Thursday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 31-13. But Penarol won second period 19-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Argentino had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Penarol was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international point guard Luis Cequeira (180-85) fired 22 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Novar Gadson (201-89, college: Rider, agency: DTMones) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Argentino players scored in double figures. Not a big story in a game in Comodoro R. where 10th ranked Echague (7-34) was defeated by fourth ranked GECR Indalo (22-21) 97-80 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by GECR Indalo. Echague was better in second period 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GECR Indalo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Echague's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Echague's players. The former international Carlos Schattmann (193-87) fired 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. The former international point guard Nicolas De-los-Santos (180-88) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. American center Derrick Caracter (206-88, college: UTEP) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack) added 19 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Four GECR Indalo and five Echague players scored in double figures. GECR Indalo have a solid three-game winning streak.
