Eloy Vargas
Dominican Rep. Eloy Vargas (211-C-88, agency: Duran International) had a very impressive game in the last round for GECR Indalo and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 40.
The 28-year old center had a double-double of 23 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Quimsa (#6, 23-22) 94-80. GECR Indalo maintains the 4th position in their group in Argentinian LigaA. GECR Indalo is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 22-21 record. Vargas turned to be GECR Indalo's top player in his first season with the team. Eloy Vargas averages this season 13.7ppg and 7.4rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old American forward Kyle Austin (203-F-88) of Hispano Am.. Austin impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 28 points and 13 rebounds. It was enough for Hispano Am. to edge slightly lower-ranked Echague (#10, 7-34) by 1 point 88-87. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in Norte. Hispano Am. keeps 9th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 15-29 record. Austin is a newcomer at Hispano Am. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Dar Tucker (193-SG-88) of second-ranked Estudiantes C.. Tucker got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for seven rebounds . Despite Tucker's great performance Estudiantes C. lost 94-95 to the lower-ranked Atenas (#9, 15-25). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Estudiantes C. needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in Norte. Their record is 29 victories and 15 lost games. Tucker has a great season in Argentina. After 42 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.2ppg (best scorer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Pete Mickeal (199-SF-78) of Atenas - 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Pablo Espinoza (200-F-87) of Regatas C. - 15 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Derrick Caracter (206-C-88) of Echague - 17 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Aaron Harper (203-SF-81) of Quimsa - 30 points and 9 rebounds
8. Luis Cequeira (180-PG-85) of Argentino - 22 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Tracy Robinson (201-SF-86) of Quilmes MP - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Sam Clancy (202-C-80) of Instituto - 22 points and 13 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Review of TNA Round 2 of 1/8 Finals - 1 day ago
Huracan - Atenas Carmen 72-80 Atenas Carmen upset Huracan on the road to secure 2-0 lead. Huracan trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 24-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-80 at the end of the game. Huracan was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch.
