The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked San Lorenzo (29-13) in Rio Gallegos on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Hispano Am. (15-29) 81-68. Hispano Am. shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American Larry OBannon (192-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 19 points for the winners. American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for San Lorenzo. Hispano Am. have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Hispano Am. maintains ninth place with 15-29 record. Defending champion San Lorenzo still keeps top position with 13 games lost. Hispano Am. are looking forward to face higher ranked Olimpico de La Banda (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Lorenzo will play against Quimsa (#6) in Santiado Estero and is hoping to win this game.
Eighth-ranked Penarol (16-30) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Quimsa (23-23) in Santiado Estero. Quimsa managed to secure only one-point victory 65-64. However their fans expected easier game. American center Chris Daniels (205-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and Aaron Harper chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Alejandro Diez (201-87) responded with 20 points. Quimsa maintains sixth place with 23-23 record. Penarol lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 30 games lost. Quimsa will play against league's leader San Lorenzo in Almagra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Penarol will play at home against Regatas Corrientes (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Bahia Blanca between Regatas Corrientes and Weber Bahia. Fourth ranked Regatas Corrientes (26-16) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Weber Bahia (23-16). Regatas Corrientes managed to escape with a 2-point win 82-80 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Weber Bahia. Donald Sims nailed 26 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Anthony-Laveal Johnson came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for Weber Bahia in the defeat. Weber Bahia's coach Sebastian Ginobili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Regatas Corrientes moved-up to third place which they share with defeated Weber Bahia. Weber Bahia at the other side keeps the third position with 16 games lost. Regatas Corrientes will meet Penarol (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Weber Bahia will play against Argentino (#5) in Junin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Instituto (26-20) against seventh ranked Libertad Sunchales (21-21) on Thursday night. Host Instituto was defeated by Libertad Sunchales in Cordoba 94-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Instituto. The best player for the winners was Juan Brussino who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Libertad Sunchales maintains seventh place with 21-21 record. Instituto at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 20 games lost. Libertad Sunchales' next round opponent will be higher ranked GECR Indalo (#4) in Comodoro R. and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Instituto will play at home against La Union and hope to win that game.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ferrocarril (27-16) against eighth ranked La Union (20-25) on Monday night. Visiting Ferrocarril was defeated by La Union in Formosa 85-70. Facundo Pinero orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Ferrocarril's coach Alvaro Castineira tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. La Union maintains eighth place with 20-25 record. Loser Ferrocarril keeps the second position with 16 games lost. La Union will face higher ranked Instituto (#4) in Cordoba in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ferrocarril will play at home against Atenas and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 41: Quimsa was beaten by San Lorenzo on the road 90-84. Atenas won against La Union on its own court 75-68. GECR Indalo unfortunately lost to Estudiantes C. in Concordia 69-81. Quilmes MP recorded a loss to San Martin C. at home 70-79. Libertad S. was defeated by Atenas on the opponent's court 86-71. Olimpico LB beat Penarol in a home game 86-72. Obras Basket lost to Echague on the road 79-88. Weber Bahia outscored Argentino on its own court 108-65. Boca Jrs recorded a loss to Instituto in Cordoba 83-87.

Instituto - Libertad S. 84-94

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Instituto (26-20) against seventh ranked Libertad Sunchales (21-21) on Thursday night. Host Instituto was defeated by Libertad Sunchales in Cordoba 94-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Instituto. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Libertad Sunchales shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was international point guard Juan Brussino (185-91) who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. International point guard Jose Vildoza (190-96) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. American John DeGroat (201-85, college: Pittsburgh) produced 23 points and the other American import swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Instituto players scored in double figures. Libertad Sunchales maintains seventh place with 21-21 record. Instituto at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 20 games lost. Libertad Sunchales' next round opponent will be higher ranked GECR Indalo (#4) in Comodoro R. and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Instituto will play at home against La Union and hope to win that game.

No shocking result in a game when first ranked San Lorenzo (29-13) beat 6th ranked Quimsa (23-23) in Almagra 90-84 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when San Lorenzo made 7 blocks. Georgian-Puerto Rican guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Facundo Pinero (200-88) answered with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Alexis Elsener (196-88) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for La Union. Atenas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 17-25 record. Loser La Union keeps the eighth position with 25 games lost. Atenas will face league's second-placed Ferrocarril in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-69. Estudiantes C. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to GECR Indalo's 26. They outrebounded GECR Indalo 47-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Estudiantes C. made 7 blocks. Cuban center Javier Justiz (205-92, agency: Pro Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds.
