The Regular Season in LigaA is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 7 rounds. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked San Lorenzo (30-15) recorded its fifteenth loss in Almagra on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by ninth ranked Atenas (18-26) 100-99. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Atenas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. American Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) fired 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Mateo Chiarini (186-98) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Atenas' coach Osvaldo Arduh used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for lost side. Atenas maintains ninth place with 18-26 record. Defending champion San Lorenzo still keeps top position with 15 games lost. Atenas are looking forward to face league's second-placed Ferrocarril in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Lorenzo will play at home against Argentino and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Comodoro R.. Fourth ranked Weber Bahia (24-18) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 3rd placed GECR Indalo (24-23) 77-76 in the game for the third place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of GECR Indalo. Worth to mention a great performance of international guard Lucio Redivo (183-94) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds. Anthony-Laveal Johnson contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for GECR Indalo. Weber Bahia moved-up to third place. GECR Indalo at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 23 games lost. Weber Bahia will play against Echague (#10) in Parana in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GECR Indalo will play at home against Boca Juniors (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Regatas Corrientes (28-18) against seventh ranked Libertad Sunchales (22-23) on Saturday night. Host Regatas Corrientes was defeated by Libertad Sunchales in Corrientes 92-79. It was a great evening for Jeremiah Massey who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side Paolo Quinteros responded with 26 points. Libertad Sunchales maintains seventh place with 22-23 record. Loser Regatas Corrientes keeps the third position with 18 games lost. Libertad Sunchales will meet La Union (#8) in the next round. Regatas Corrientes will play against Olimpico de La Banda (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Estudiantes C. (31-16) against sixth ranked Obras Basket (23-23) on Friday night. Host Estudiantes C. was defeated by Obras Basket in a tough game in Concordia 60-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Estudiantes C.. It was an exceptional evening for Dennis Horner who led the winners and scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Obras Basket's coach Nicolas Casalanguida allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Obras Basket maintains sixth place with 23-23 record. Estudiantes C. at the other side keeps the second position with 16 games lost. Obras Basket will have a break next round. Estudiantes C. will play on the road against Hispano Am. in Rio Gallegos and hope to win that game.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cordoba. Second ranked Ferrocarril faced 4th placed Instituto. Guests from Buenos Aires (30-16) defeated host Instituto (27-21) 97-91. Franco Balbi fired 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Ferrocarril have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 30-16 record having just two points less than leader San Lorenzo. Loser Instituto keeps the fourth position with 21 games lost. Ferrocarril will face Atenas (#9) in Cordoba in the next round and are hoping to win another game.

Other games of round 43 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Quilmes MP was defeated by San Martin C. in Corrientes 86-76. La Union beat Olimpico LB at home 78-69. Hispano Am. lost to Quimsa on the opponent's court 74-89. San Martin C. managed to outperform Libertad S. in a home game 77-65. Atenas recorded a loss to Ferrocarril on the road 83-76. Regatas C. defeated Quilmes MP on its own court 81-75.

Regatas C. - Libertad S. 79-92

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Regatas Corrientes (28-18) against seventh ranked Libertad Sunchales (22-23) on Saturday night. Host Regatas Corrientes was defeated by Libertad Sunchales in Corrientes 92-79. The guests trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 56-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Libertad Sunchales dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Regatas Corrientes' 32. It was a great evening for American-FYR Macedonian forward Jeremiah Massey (202-82, college: Kansas St., agency: Diamond Sports) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. The former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Libertad Sunchales players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international Paolo Quinteros (188-79) responded with 26 points and the former international forward Fabian Ramirez (193-90) scored 16 points. Libertad Sunchales maintains seventh place with 22-23 record. Loser Regatas Corrientes keeps the third position with 18 games lost. Libertad Sunchales will meet La Union (#8) in the next round. Regatas Corrientes will play against Olimpico de La Banda (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cordoba. Second ranked Ferrocarril faced 4th placed Instituto. Guests from Buenos Aires (30-16) defeated host Instituto (27-21) 97-91. Instituto was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Ferrocarril looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. International point guard Franco Balbi (185-89) fired 25 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Ferrocarril players scored in double figures. American John DeGroat (201-85, college: Pittsburgh) produced 34 points (!!!) and the other American import swingman Rodney Green (196-88, college: La Salle) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Ferrocarril have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 30-16 record having just two points less than leader San Lorenzo. Loser Instituto keeps the fourth position with 21 games lost. Ferrocarril will face Atenas (#9) in Cordoba in the next round and are hoping to win another game.

There was no surprise when 7th ranked Quilmes MP (19-26) was defeated on the road by first ranked San Martin Corrientes (33-12) 86-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by San Martin Corrientes. Quilmes MP was better in third quarter 25-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. San Martin Corrientes made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Quilmes MP was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Cuban guard Reynaldo Garcia (187-90, agency: DTMones) fired 23 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Point guard Lucas Faggiano (189-89, college: LIU Brooklyn) chipped in 18 points. International guard Luca Vildoza (190-95) produced 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Enzo Ruiz (193-88, agency: DTMones) added 15 points respectively for lost side. American-Jamaican center Torin Francis (210-83, college: Notre Dame) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Eduardo Gamboa (188-84) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. Mauro Cosolito (195-88) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Kyle Lamonte (191-84, college: William Carey) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. La Union maintains eighth place with 21-27 record. Loser Olimpico de La Banda keeps the fifth position with 21 games lost. La Union will face higher ranked Libertad Sunchales (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olimpico de La Banda will play against Regatas Corrientes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
