Franco Balbi
International Point guard Franco Balbi (185-PG-89) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Ferrocarril and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 43.
The 27-year old playmaker had the game-high 25 points adding five rebounds and seven assists for Ferrocarril in his team's victory, helping them to beat Instituto (#5, 27-21) 97-91. Ferrocarril maintains the 2nd position in their group in Argentinian LigaA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Ferrocarril will need more victories to improve their 30-16 record. In the team's last game Balbi had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 9 attempts. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Balbi has impressive league stats. He is league's best passer with 6.3apg. Balbi

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 33-year old American center Torin Francis (210-C-83) of La Union. Francis impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. Of course La Union cruised to a 78-69 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Olimpico LB (#4, 27-21). La Union's 8th position in Norte has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 21-28 record. Francis is well-known by La Union fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was Lisandro Rasio (198-F-90, agency: Pro Sports) of Atenas (#9). Rasio scored 23 points and grabbed five rebounds. Despite Rasio's great performance Atenas lost 76-83 to the higher-ranked Ferrocarril (#2, 30-16). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Atenas ranking at the top of Norte, however are very questionable as they have already lost 26 games, recording just eighteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Rasio could help Atenas to bring them higher in the standings. Rasio has a very solid season. In 35 games in Argentina he scored 7.5ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Reynaldo Garcia (187-G-90) of San Martin C. - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Pete Mickeal (199-SF-78) of Atenas - 27 points and 5 rebounds
6. Eloy Vargas (211-C-88) of GECR Indalo - 21 points and 11 rebounds
7. Pablo Espinoza (200-F-87) of Regatas C. - 20 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Larry O'Bannon (192-SG-83) of Hispano Am. - 26 points and 3 rebounds
9. Lucio Redivo (183-G-94) of Weber Bahia - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Jeremiah Massey (202-F-82) of Libertad S. - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Huracan - Atenas Carmen 72-80 Atenas Carmen upset Huracan on the road to secure 2-0 lead. Huracan trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 24-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-80 at the end of the game. Huracan was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch.
