Here is the weekly review of the top performing Argentinian players, who play currently abroad.


Nicolas Richotti

   #1. This week's number one is an international point guard Nicolas Richotti (183-86, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He led his Spanish team CB Canarias to a victory over the -ranked PAOK (1-4) 79-74 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. Richotti was MVP of the game. He scored 22 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 30 minutes on the court. Iberostar Tenerife CB Canarias (4-1) is placed 33rd in the Basketball Champions League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. It's Richotti's eighth season with the team. Richotti has relatively good stats this year: 13.6ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.6apg, 2FGP: 52.6%, 3FGP: 45.5%(10-22) and FT: 81.8% in five games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian. Richotti played for the Argentinian senior national team one years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91, currently plays in Euroleague). Campazzo could not help Real Madrid (4-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance Real Madrid lost 83-90 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Maccabi T-A. Campazzo scored 12 points and added 3 passes (went 5 for 5 at the free throw line) in 26 minutes. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Campazzo's first year with the team. This season he has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg, 2.3rpg, 3.3apg, 1.5spg, 2FGP: 55.0%, 3FGP: 35.7% in six games. Campazzo is in the roster of the Argentinian senior national team.

Luis Scola

   #3. The Argentinian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international power forward Luis Scola (206-80, currently plays in China). He was not able to help Brave Dragons in their game against Beijing Ducks (4-2) in the Chinese CBA. Despite his very good performance in Friday night's game Scola recorded a double-double by scoring 40 points and getting 18 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 3 steals. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Scola's first year with the team. Scola has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 29.3ppg, 14.7rpg, 3.3apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 60.2%(59-98), 3FGP: 47.8%(11-23) and FT: 79.3%. Scola is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Spanish. He is also a member of the Argentinian senior national team.

   #4. Forward Lisandro Rasio (198-90, agency: Pro Sports, currently plays in Chile) was not able to secure a victory for Los Leones (9-5) in their game against CD Tinguiririca San Fernando (5-10) in the Chilean Liga Nacional, despite his very good performance last Sunday. Rasio had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 14 rebounds in 36 minutes. But the first-placed Los Leones (9-5) was edged 85-84 at home by the lower-ranked (#6) CD Tinguiririca San Fernando in the Conferencia Centro. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Rasio has very impressive stats this year: 15.2ppg, 11.2rpg and 3.5apg in 13 games. He used to play for the Argentinian U19 national team back in 2009.

   #5. International guard Manu Ginobili (198-77, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in NBA) couldn't help the San Antonio Spurs (8-5) in their game against the Milwaukee Bucks (6-6) in the NBA. Despite his very good performance on Friday night Ginobili was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 3 assists. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Ginobili is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his 16th year in Spurs' roster. Ginobili has reliable stats this season: 8.6ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.6apg and 1.1spg. He has both Argentinian and Italian nationalities. Ginobili used to play for the Argentinian national team last year.

   #6. Guard Lucio Redivo (183-94, currently plays in EuroCup) couldn't help RETAbet BB (1-4) in their game against ALBA Berlin (4-1) in the Eurocup, despite his very good performance in Wednesday night's game. He was the top scorer with 20 points. Redivo also added 3 assists in 21 minutes. But RETAbet BB lost 86-94 on their home court in Bilbao to the second-ranked ALBA Berlin. It was RETAbet BB's fourth consecutive loss in a row. This year Redivo's overall stats are: 9.6ppg and 1.8apg in five games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Argentinian National Team roster.

Former U19 international guard Cristian Cortez (185-90, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to a Fuerza Regia's victory against the closely-ranked Mineros (5-4) 105-100 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Friday. Cortez scored 11 points and added 6 assists. Fuerza Regia Monterrey (6-3) is placed third in the LNBP. Cortez's total stats this season are: 9.3ppg, 1.4rpg and 3.3apg. He used to play for the Argentinian U19 national team eight years ago.

Center Marcos Delia (211-92, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help UCAM Murcia (3-5) in their game against Burgos (1-7) in the Spanish Liga Endesa, despite his very good performance on Sunday night. Delia was the second best scorer with 14 points in 24 minutes. But UCAM Murcia was edged 89-86 on the opponent's court by the one of league's weakest teams (#17) Burgos. This year Delia's total stats are: 9.4ppg and 5.0rpg in eight games. He plays currently for the Argentinian national team.

International guard Nicolas Laprovittola (190-90, currently plays in VTB United League) managed to help Zenit Saint Petersburg to win against the league outsider Kalev/Cramo (0-5) 95-89 in the VTB United League in Sunday night's game. He scored only 2 points and had 3 steals. Zenit Saint Petersburg (4-1) is placed fourth in the VTB United League. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Laprovittola has averaged so far 5.8ppg, 1.4rpg and 2.8apg. He is also in the roster of the Argentinian national team.

Former international guard Juan Fernandez (193-90, college: Temple, currently plays in Italy) helped Alma Trieste win their game against the eighth-ranked Treviso Basket 91-83 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) on Sunday night. Fernandez recorded 14 points in 25 minutes. Fernandez's stats this year are: 13.6ppg, 1.7rpg, 3.3apg and 2.0spg in seven games. He used to play for the Argentinian national team three years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international point guard Jonatan Machuca (182-89, currently plays in Chile) helped AB Ancud edge the fourth-ranked Puerto Montt 76-74 in the Chilean Liga Nacional on Saturday night. Machuca recorded 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Machuca averaged so far 14.4ppg, 3.2rpg, 5.6apg and 1.3spg. He used to play for the Argentinian U18 national team back in 2006.

   #13. International swingman Patricio Garino (198-93, college: G.Washington, currently plays in Spain) helped Baskonia win their game against the 16th-ranked Joventut 87-77 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. Garino scored only 2 points in 7 minutes on the court. This year Garino averages just 1.5ppg in four games. He is also Argentinian national team player.

   #14. Former U16 international small forward Juan Manuel Caceres (200-84, also represented by Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) helped Roma S.Azzurra win their game against the 15th-ranked Isernia 64-46 in the Italian Serie B (third division) last Sunday. Caceres recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and getting the same number of rebounds. Caceres has averaged so far 9.7ppg, 5.7rpg and 1.6apg. He used to play for the Argentinian U16 national team back in 2002.

   #15. U19 international point guard Lautaro Lopez (188-99, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Fundacion 5+11 in their game against Cambados in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). Lopez scored 6 points in only 13 minutes. It was his first game for Fundacion 5+11 this season. His team was edged 73-72. Lopez is also in the roster of the Argentinian U19 national team.


The list of other players, who all have Argentinian passport but never been selected to any of Argentinian national teams:

   #1. Ariel Filloy (189-PG-87, agency: Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) could not help Scandone AV (5-2) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Scandone AV was defeated 92-88 on the road by the league outsider New Basket BR (#16). Filloy was the second best scorer with 23 points. He also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Filloy's first year with the team. This season Filloy averages: 8.6ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.4apg. He has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian.

   #2. Bruno Cerella (194-G/F-86, agency: Players Group, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Umana Reyer Venezia to win against the tenth-ranked MIA-RO Cantu (3-4) 93-92 in the Italian Serie A in Saturday night's game. Cerella scored only 4 points. Umana Reyer Venezia (6-1) is placed fourth in the Serie A. It's Cerella's first season with the team. He has averaged so far 1.2ppg and 1.2rpg. Cerella is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.

   #3. Experienced Min-Soo Kim (200-C-82, currently plays in South Korea) led SK Knights to a victory over the league outsider Sonic Boom KT (1-11) 94-75 in the South Korean KBL last Tuesday. He was the best player in that game. Kim scored 23 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 31 minutes. Seoul SK Knights (11-2) are placed first in the KBL. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Kim has been at the team for eight years. He averaged so far 10.8ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.3apg in 13 games he played so far. Kim has both South Korean and Argentinian nationalities.

   #4. Albano Chiarastella (199-F-85, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in Italy) contributed to a Eurotrend Biella's victory against the 11th-ranked Latina Basket (2-4) 86-81 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) on Sunday night. He scored 9 points and had 3 steals. Eurotrend Biella (5-2) is placed third in West group. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Chiarastella's first season with the team. Chiarastella has averaged so far 6.7ppg, 5.1rpg and 2.0apg. He also holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.

   #5. Andres Forray (187-PG-86, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Dolomiti En. TR (2-5) in their last game. Despite Forray's good performance Dolomiti En. TR was badly defeated 74-55 at home by the much higher-ranked (#3) Armani Milano. He was the second best scorer with 10 points. Forray also added 5 rebounds in 27 minutes. Forray has been at the team for seven years. He has averaged so far 7.4ppg, 3.9rpg, 2.9apg and 1.1spg in seven games. Forray has dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian.

   #6. Brian Savoy (189-G-92, currently plays in Switzerland) was not able to secure a victory for Neuchatel (4-4) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Neuchatel was edged 82-80 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Monthey (#8). Savoy was the top scorer with 18 points. He also added 7 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Savoy has averaged so far 7.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 3.8apg and 1.1spg. He holds both Argentinian and Swiss passports.

   #7. Pablo Bertone (193-SG-90, also represented by Interperformances, college: Florida Atlantic, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help VL Pesaro in their game against Betaland Cdo in the Italian Serie A. Bertone scored 9 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 34 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 17 points 73-56. He has averaged so far 6.9ppg, 3.9rpg and 2.7apg in seven games. Bertone has Argentinian and Italian nationalities.

   #8. Donovan Johnson-Marshall (201-F-92, college: Ky Wesleyan, currently plays in Chile) couldn't help AB Ancud (0-2) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Johnson-Marshall's very good performance AB Ancud was defeated 78-71 in Valdivia by the leading Las Animas in the Conferencia Sur. He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Johnson-Marshall also added 8 rebounds. Johnson-Marshall has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg and 7.0rpg.

   #9. Nicolas Morici (192-G-94, another player represented by Octagon Europe, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in Catanzaro's victory against the ninth-ranked Sestu 77-76 in the Italian Serie B (third division) in Saturday night's game. Morici was the best player in that game. He scored 27 points (!!!) and blocked 2 shots in 32 minutes. Morici has very impressive stats this year: 17.9ppg, 7.9rpg, 2.9apg and 2.4spg in seven games.

   #10. Nicholas Wadell (201-F-89, currently plays in Uruguay) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Olimpia in their game against U Universitario in the Uruguayan LUB. He recorded 7 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. His team was edged 84-81. This season Wadell has very high stats. He averages: 17.9ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1spg.

He started the season at played at Hebraica in Uruguayan LUB league. Izaguirre has played there for the last four years. In 30 LUB games he averaged 9.6ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.5apg this season.
