The Second Stage in TNA just started. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

CA Platense smashed Ciclista in Florida 93-67. CA Platense dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ciclista's 24. They outrebounded Ciclista 48-25 including a 39-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. CA Platense looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Ciclista's players. Power forward Sebastian Morales (202-88) fired 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized Spanish power forward Ariel Eslava (201-79) chipped in 5 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Cuban forward Karel Guzman (188-95) produced 21 points and 4 steals for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ciclista will play next round against CA Temperley trying to get back on the winning streak. CA Platense will try to continue on its current victory against Atenas in Carmen de Patagones.
Villa San Martin (11-5) recorded a loss in Santa Fe. Visitors were defeated by Union SF (9-8) 85-76. Worth to mention a great performance of Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Andres Mariani contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. American forward Paul Larsen (198-92, college: USC Aiken) answered with 27 points and 9 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for Villa San Martin. Union SF will play against Libertad Sunchales (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villa San Martin will play against Echague in Parana and hopes to get back on the winning track.
A very close game took place in Villa Maria between Obera TC and Ameghino. Obera TC (11-6) got a very close victory on the road over Ameghino (9-8). Obera TC managed to escape with a 1-point win 84-83 on Wednesday evening. Mauricio Corzo stepped up and scored 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. At the losing side Joaquin Baeza responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Obera TC will meet Barrio Parque (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ameghino will play against Deportivo Norte (#8) in Armstrong and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Rivadavia. It ended with only one-point home defeat of Rivadavia M. (8-10) to Petr.Argentino (11-6) 89-88 on Tuesday evening. Chris Millender nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. Petr.Argentino's next round opponent will be C.Espanol P. (#12) in Plottier and are hoping to win another game. Rivadavia M. will play at home against La Union and hope to win that game.
Important game to mention about took place in Rocamora. Rocamora (5-12) saved a 2-point victory at home edging Gimnasia LP (9-8) 78-76 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Franco Baralle fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Other games of round 1 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
In North Deportivo Norte was defeated by San Isidro in San Francisco 61-58. Talleres TV smashed BHY Tiro Federal at home 82-58.
In South Villa Mitre CF lost to La Union on the opponent's court 74-80. Estudiantes O. outscored Temperley in a home game 105-81. Parque Sur managed to beat La Union on the road 95-87.
The best stats of 1st round was 29 points and 5 rebounds by Brandon Nazione of Gimnasia LP.

Group North
San Isidro - Deportivo Norte 61-58

There was a minor upset in San Francisco where Deportivo Norte (8-9) was edged by San Isidro (8-9) 61-58 on Wednesday. San Isidro shot 26 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Deportivo Norte only scored nine points from the stripe. Center Santiago Gonzalez (203-83) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 18 rebounds for the winners. Guard Felipe Pais (185-90) chipped in 16 points. American forward Jerrell Martin (203-95, college: Siena Heights) produced 6 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Facundo Toia (179-94) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. San Isidro will face Barrio Parque (#11) in Cordoba in the next round.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Tafi Viejo where Talleres TV (9-9) smashed BHY Tiro Federal (8-9) 82-58 on Wednesday. Talleres TV had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Lyonell Gaines (198-93, college: Morehead St.) fired 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward George Valentine (203-88, college: Winthrop, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Gaines is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Power forward Sebastian Acevedo (198-90) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Emiliano Correa (189-91) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Talleres TV will face Hindu (#4) in Chaco in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BHY Tiro Federal will play on the road against Mitre Tuc. (#12) in Tucuman and hope to win that game.

Villa San Martin (11-5) recorded a loss in Santa Fe. Visitors were defeated by Union SF (9-8) 85-76. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-15. But Villa San Martin won second period 24-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Union SF forced 20 Villa San Martin turnovers.
