The president of the Aruba Basketball Federation MR. Geraldo Milton here to present the Aruban Basketball: 'Currently the Aruban basketball is focusing on growing the sport on all ages and genders on the island, where we played the sport for recreational purposes now we are focusing on becoming more serious in developing our athletes for international play. The reason for we are bringing in international coaches in order to train our coaches and our athletes on the island. The Aruban Basketball Federation recognizes that in order to be better you must bringing the best coaches to work with our athletes.' By the last news your job sounds already successful, you found the agreement till Christmas with coach Antonio d'Albero (agency: SPORTlab Agency ) that has a great international curriculum and experience, what you can tell about him? : his resume is very impressive. At first we where skeptical about him wanting to come in and work with our athletes. The Aruban Basketball Federation receive many offers from international coaches sometimes we think they want to come to Aruba for our beautiful beaches and other reasons not basketball related. Coach Antonio d'Albero (agency: SPORTlab Agency )was persistent and always said the right things. His replies were always very respectful towards our federation regardless on how the slow the process was developing. His patience was a key factor on choosing to work with us, we are in a rebuilding stage with our young athletes and he will need to be patient. How is going the work of the italian coach on the island? and how is the relationship between him and you as federation, the clubs and players? :'Basically he will be on the island for 4 weeks, he will be attending daily training with our local clubs to get a feel what goes on at that specific club. He will also work with our advanced athletes to also advice the federation on what we need to improve on the short term and long term in order to create a stable environment for developing good athletes on the island. We would also like him to advice us on how to setup our coaching staff for our national teams on the island. Coach Antonio d'Albero (agency: SPORTlab Agency ) has turned out to be very good communicator with our athletes, we consider this to be the most important factor for our working relationship, our athletes must be able to trust and have the desire to play for a coach. President you are already doing a great job for the Aruba basketball, what is your goal? :'Create international opportunities for our athletes to play basketball around the world. That is my main goal in order to this we must have a strong national competition and that is also part of the main goal. Coach d'Albero is working also to built the National Team, what is the goal of the National Team? :'Our goal is to become a top team in the Caribbean and Central America. We have a long way to go but we are working everyday towards this goal. Which part do you want to improve more in the Basketball in Aruba? :'Improvement work ethic of our athletes, coaches & volunteers all these persons are major players we must understand that we must work harder everyday. Sacrifice and hard work goes hand in hand and leads most of time to great achievements.
