Justin Smith had a great game in the last round for Bahamas Univ. and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 14.
The had the game-high 29 points adding six rebounds and three assists for Bahamas Univ. in his team's victory, helping them to beat Pros (#9, 2-11) 78-64. Bahamas Univ. maintains the 6th position in Bahamas NPBA. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Bahamas Univ. will need more victories to improve their 8-3 record. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 77.8% from 2-point range and got three three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Bahamas Univ.'s top player in his first season with the team. Smith has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (3rd best: 23.5ppg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 28-year old international Eugene Bain (195-C/F-88) of second-ranked Regulators. Bain impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 36 points and 17 rebounds. Bad luck as Regulators lost that game 101-108 to slightly lower-ranked Cybots (#3, 10-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Regulators still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. It was just his team's 3rd loss this season, while they won 12 other games. Bain is a newcomer at Regulators and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 24.3ppg (#2). He also registered 14.1 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Bahamas Univ.'s star - Kemsy Sylvestre. Sylvestre scored 24 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Bahamas Univ., helping his team with a 78-64 easy win against the lower-ranked Pros (#9, 2-11). Bahamas Univ. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 3 lost games. Sylvestre has a great season in Bahamas. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.1ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 11.4rpg (4th best). He also has 2.3spg, 1.6bpg and FGP: 52.5%.

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

ADA Blois Basket 41 (ProB) landed 24-year old Bahamas forward Jonathan Fairell (201-120kg-93, college: Murray State, agency: Duran International) from SPO Rouen Basket. In 34 ProB games in France he averaged 14.5ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg last season. The previous (15-16) season Fairell played at Vienna in Austrian A Bundesliga where in 42 games he had 14.0ppg, 9.2rpg (#2 in the league) and 1.1apg. Soles de Santo Domingo (LNB) signed 24-year old Bahamas international guard Michael Carey Jr. (196-91kg-93). He just graduated from Wagner (NCAA). In 30 games he had 13.8ppg, 9.1rpg and 1.7apg last season. Carey Jr. helped them to make it to the semifinals. David Nesbitt selected the top Bahamian playing abroad in last week's games - 10 days ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Bahamians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is an international forward David Nesbitt (200-91). He could not help Olimpico de La Banda (32-24) in their last game.
