YMCA Capita Finance Wildcats are the 2016 champions of the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) Under 19 Summer Jam competition. Playing at the Barbados Community College on Sunday, the Wildcats came up against the Burger King Clapham Bulls and walked away with their third straight title thanks to an 81-78 down-to-the-wire victory. At the half the scores were locked at 35-35 and with under 10 seconds to go in the game the scores were again tied at 78-78. An offensive rebound and a put back, plus a chance to complete an 'And 1' play by Zachary Cave, gave the Wildcats the lead. Cave scored but was unable to continue. However his teammate completed the three-point play by scoring the free throw. Despite scoring a game-high 27 points for the Bulls, Shaquan Newton could not get his time over the line. Newton was supported by Andrew Ifill (180-F) who finished with 22 points, while Shaquan Carrington (180-G) and Matayas Kola each scored 10 points. For the victorious Wildcats Joel Hunte scored 25 points, Cave finished on 16, Alec Green had 11, while Joshua Lowe and Theo Greenidge scored 10 points each.
