Not a big story in a game in Brasilia where 14th ranked Cerrado (3-13) was defeated by second ranked Minas (14-1) 93-80 on Tuesday. Minas made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Minas outrebounded Cerrado 38-26 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international center Joao Paulo Batista (206-81, college: Gonzaga) who scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. American guard David Jackson (190-82, college: Penn St.) chipped in 12 points. Four Minas players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Henrique Coelho (184-93) produced 13 points and 7 assists and naturalized American guard Kevin Crescenzi (193-93, college: Dartmouth) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Minas have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader. Cerrado will play against Campo Mourao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
