There was no surprise when 12th ranked Cerrado (7-16) was outleveled by ninth ranked Corinthians (11-9) in Sao Paulo 83-61 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 52-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Corinthians shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. American guard Malcolm Miller (201-91, college: Southern) nailed 12 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and the former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (183-91) accounted for 17 points and 6 assists. Five Corinthians players scored in double figures. Canadian-American swingman Nicholas Wiggins (198-91, college: Z*Orangeville A's, agency: BIG) came up with 16 points and point guard Lucas Farina (186-95) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Cerrado in the defeat. Corinthians moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Cerrado keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Corinthians will meet at home bottom-ranked Brasilia (#16) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cerrado will play against Caxias do Sul (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
