Regular Season Round 6: Rocamora - Velez 61-44

The biggest surprise took place in Concepcion de Urug. where host Rocamora (4-2) beat league's leader Velez (5-1) 61-44 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Velez. Rocamora forced 23 Velez turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Velez helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was naturalized Uruguayan power forward Sabrina Scevola (178-92) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Tiziana Huici (-2) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Colombian forward Alejandra Alonso (174-92) who recorded 8 points and 9 rebounds and forward Valentina Silva (173-99) added 3 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rocamora moved-up to third place, which they share with Berazategui and Quimsa. Velez at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Obras who have the same record. Velez will play next round against league's leader Obras trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Rocamora will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Espanola in San Vicente.
