Regular Season Round 20: Minas - Caxias do Sul 74-70
Date: March 12, 2021
Very expected game when 13th ranked Caxias do Sul (7-19) lost to second ranked Minas (21-3) in Belo Horizonte 70-74. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Shaquille Johnson (194-90, college: Marshall, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and the other American import guard David Jackson (190-82, college: Penn St.) who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Eddy Carvalho (197-87) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the former international swingman Antonio Ferreira (200-94) scored 21 points. Minas maintains second position with 21-3 record having just three points less than leader Flamengo. Newly promoted Caxias do Sul keeps the thirteenth place with 19 games lost. Minas will play against Mogi (#8) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round where they are favorite. Caxias do Sul will play on the road against Campo Mourao (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
