Regular Season Round 15: Instituto - Flamengo 80-90

Very significant was Brazilian Flamengo's (#1, 5-0) victory against 3rd placed Argentinian Instituto (1-4) 90-80. It looked good early as Instituto took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Flamengo had a 24-18 second period charge getting the lead and Instituto was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 80-90. Flamengo players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Spanish-Brazilian center Rafael Hettsheimeir (210-86) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Four Flamengo players scored in double figures. Martin Cuello (193-93) came up with 21 points and 4 assists and Venezuelan Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville, agency: Pro Sports) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Instituto in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flamengo maintains first place in Group D with 5-0 record. Instituto at the other side stay at the bottom position with four games lost.
