Regular Season Round 8: Monjitas - Villa Nueva 45-103

Bottom-ranked Monjitas (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 103-45 loss to third ranked Villa Nueva (5-2) in . But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Monjitas' 28. They outrebounded Monjitas 34-15 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Bernie Diaz (200-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Point guard Pablo Cano (178-88) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Villa Nueva players scored in double figures. Angel Delgado replied with 15 points and Enzo Castro added 9 points in the effort for Monjitas. Villa Nueva moved-up to second place. Monjitas at the other side still closes the standings with seven games lost. Villa Nueva will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Monjitas will play against the league's leader Halcones (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory.
