Regular Season Round 5: Santa Ana - Chalchuapa 122-73

Bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 122-73 loss to second ranked Santa Ana (5-1) in Santa Ana. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 48. Santa Ana forced 26 Chalchuapa turnovers and outrebounded them 51-37 including 23 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. The game was dominated by American players. Center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 25 rebounds and 8 assists. Eddie Ishman (196-86, college: Miles) contributed with 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Santa Ana players scored in double figures. Forward Marcus Feagin (192-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds and forward Jose Ortiz (190-90, college: DelVal) added 25 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chalchuapa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Ana maintains second place with 5-1 record behind leader Santa Tecla. Chalchuapa lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Santa Ana will play against Cojute (#4) in Cojutepeque in the next round. Chalchuapa will play at home against San Salvador (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
