Regular Season Round 7: Sameji - Cupes 92-96
Date: April 7, 2021
Bottom-ranked Sameji is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fourth consecutive match to second ranked Cupes (4-1) 96-92. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican forward Emmanuel Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) helped adding 18 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican forward Jose Guitian (207-87, college: Lasell) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Brahian Mendez scored 23 points and 4 assists. Five Sameji players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Cupes maintains second place with 4-1 record having just one point less than leader CDP. Sameji at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Cupes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena .
