Regular Season Round 9: Halcones - Monjitas 87-36

Liga Metropolitana top team - Halcones (6-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Monjitas (0-8) 87-36. Halcones held Monjitas to an opponent 20.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 49.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Monjitas 45-31 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard David Monterroso (180-79) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Luis Lopez (-97) chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds. Four Halcones players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Carlos Gonzalez with 10 points and 9 rebounds and Jose Lopez scored 13 points. Halcones have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-1 record. Monjitas at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Halcones will play against Villa Nueva (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Monjitas will play against Coeindeguasa (#6) and hope to get finally their first victory.
