Regular Season Round 17: Salta Basket - Ameghino 84-70

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Salta Basket (8-4) defeated at home 4th placed Ameghino (7-4) 84-70 on Saturday. Ameghino was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Uruguayan Bernardo Barrera (194-97) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Swingman Cristian Cardo (198-99) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Salta Basket players scored in double figures. Swingman Jonatan Torresi (190-94) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-88) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Salta Basket moved-up to third place, which they share with Barrio Parque and Estudiantes T. Loser Ameghino dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Salta Basket will face Riachuelo LR (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
