Regular Season Round 6: Mieleras - Marineras 101-61

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Mieleras as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Mieleras smashed bottom-ranked Marineras in Guanajuato 101-61. Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Marineras' 26. They outrebounded Marineras 47-31 including 33 on the defensive glass. Mieleras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for guard Laura Perez (173-97, college: URI) who led her team to a victory with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Frida Gonzalez (184-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Mieleras players scored in double figures. Mayra Gil (-3) replied with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian guard Candela Foresto (163-99) added 17 points in the effort for Marineras. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mieleras (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Marineras at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Marineras will play next round against strong Racers trying to get back on the winning streak. Mieleras will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Quetzales in Ciudad de Mexico.
