Regular Season Round 7: Ponta Grossa - Joinville 72-84

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Ponta Grossa (4-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Joinville (3-2) 84-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ponta Grossa. Joinville looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Willian Moreira (190-92) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Patrick Vieira (186-93) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Power forward Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and guard Nathanael Nascimento (188-94) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Ponta Grossa. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Joinville moved-up to third place. Ponta Grossa at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. They share it with Corinthians. Joinville are looking forward to face league's second-placed Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ponta Grossa will play against Maringa and is hoping to win this game.
