Regular Season Round 9: Aztks - Mieleras 76-73

First defeat of league's leader Mieleras (8-1) against second ranked Aztks (8-1) 76-73 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Mieleras. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Mieleras 48-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-84) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 19 rebounds. American guard Briahanna Jackson (168-93, college: Louisville) contributed with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Jaterra Bonds (170-92, college: Florida) answered with 27 points and the former international guard Brisa Silva (170-84, college: OK State) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Mieleras. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aztks have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Mieleras and Lobas. Mieleras will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Aztks will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Mieleras in Guanajuato.
