Regular Season Round 8: Maringa - Ponta Grossa 62-71

CBC League top team - Ponta Grossa (5-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Maringa (1-5) 71-62. The winners were led by guard Nathanael Nascimento (188-94) who scored that evening 11 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and power forward Leonardo Bispo (206-96) supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds by Erike Lima (202-99) did not help to save the game for Maringa. Bruno Crocetta (198-87) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Four Maringa players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ponta Grossa maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with Corinthians. Maringa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with five games lost. Ponta Grossa will play against league's second-placed Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maringa will play on the road against Brusque (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
