The game between Top Four teams took place in Santa Tecla. Top-ranked host Santa Tecla (11-0) smashed their biggest opponent Santa Ana (7-4) 130-94. Santa Tecla dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 42. They outrebounded Santa Ana 56-32 including a 41-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santa Tecla players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Santa Ana's players. Puerto Rican forward Owens Perez (203-92) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead the effort and Cuban Lisvan Valdez (196-88) supported him with 29 points. Four Santa Tecla players scored in double figures. Even 47 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals by American forward Ron Lawton (196-95, college: NMHU) did not help to save the game for Santa Ana. Guard Benjamin Colocho (186-99) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Santa Tecla have an impressive 11-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-0 record. Santa Ana lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with four games lost. They share the position with San Salvador. Santa Tecla will play against Fantasmas (#7) in San Vicente in the next round where they are favorite. Santa Ana will play on the road against Chalchuapa (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
