Regular Season Round 12: Algodoneras - Mexcaltecas 70-73

Fifth-ranked Algodoneras (1-11) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Mexcaltecas (6-6) in Torreon on Sunday. The visitors from Tepic managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great shooting night for Mexcaltecas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was a good game for Colombian center Narlyn Mosquera (197-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Monica Cuevas contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Mexcaltecas' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Brittany Byrd (175, college: UIC) replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Sujei Cera added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Algodoneras. Mexcaltecas moved-up to second place, which they share with Barreteras and Racers. Algodoneras lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. Mexcaltecas is looking forward to face league's second-placed Racers in Saltillo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Algodoneras will play on the road against the league's second-placed Mieleras in Guanajuato and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
