Regular Season Round 5: Hurricanes - Motilones 89-92

The most exciting game of round 5 in the LPB took place in San Andres. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 8th ranked Hurricanes (2-5) to third ranked Motilones (5-1) 92-89 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Motilones outrebounded Hurricanes 45-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Jovonni Shuler (198-87, college: SSU) stepped up and scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and forward Adarius Mashuan chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Anthony Young (200-89, college: KWC) responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91, agency: Interperformances) scored 22 points and 5 assists. Five Motilones and four Hurricanes players scored in double figures. Motilones have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Hurricanes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keep the eighth position with five games lost. They share it with Storm. Motilones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hurricanes will play on the road against Tigrillos (#5) in Medellin and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
