Very predictable result when seventh ranked Ameghino (9-5) won against 15th ranked Independiente (3-13) in Villa Maria 95-87 on Saturday. Ameghino made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Ameghino outrebounded Independiente 34-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Y Mencia nailed 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-88) accounted for 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Ameghino's coach Pablo Castro used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Juan Angel Lopez (190-84) came up with 16 points and Bruno Ingratta (202-85) added 17 points respectively for Independiente in the defeat. Four Ameghino and five Independiente players scored in double figures. Ameghino maintains seventh place with 9-5 record. Independiente at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Ameghino will meet league's leader Villa S.Martin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Independiente will play against San Isidro (#10) and hope to secure a win.
