Regular Season Round 15: Aztks - Lobas 62-74

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Aztks (13-2) in Ciudad de Mexico on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Lobas (14-1) 74-62. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Aztks. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Lobas forced 22 Aztks turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Hazel Ramirez (165-92, college: LMU) who scored 13 points and 7 assists. Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Lobas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-84) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Briahanna Jackson (168-93, college: Louisville) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lobas have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record which they share with defeated Aztks. Newly promoted Aztks still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with Mieleras. Lobas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Aztks' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Ciudad de Mexico Lobas.
