Regular Season Round 9: Vera Cruz - Ituano 78-80

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LBF took place in Vera Cruz. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-best Vera Cruz (5-3) to first ranked Ituano (8-1) 80-78 in the game for the first place. Ituano looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for the former international center Erika De Souza (197-82) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Patricia Ribeiro (175-90) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Ituano players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Tassia Carcavalli (176-92) answered with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Maila Ciciardi (168-93) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Vera Cruz. Ituano have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record. Vera Cruz at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Sesi/Arara.. Ituano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vera Cruz will play against LSB RJ and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
