An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ciudad de Mexico. First ranked Mieleras faced 4th ranked Quetzales. Guests from Guanajuato (16-2) smashed host Quetzales (4-14) 104-76. Mieleras dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Quetzales' 42. They outrebounded Quetzales 57-35 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Martha Castillo scored 20 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Kayla Mobley (180-90, college: Clayton St.) chipped in 19 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-87) with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists and Sarai Morales produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Five Mieleras and four Quetzales players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mieleras have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 16-2 record. Quetzales lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 14 games lost. Mieleras will meet at home league's second-placed Aztks in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Quetzales will play against Marineras in Puerto Vallarta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
