The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Mauricio Baez as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (San Lazaro) loss. Mauricio Baez defeated 5th ranked Bameso at home 90-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bameso. American swingman AJ Davis (206-95, college: UCF) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward James White (204-93, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Mauricio Baez players scored in double figures. Mauricio Baez's coach Melvyn Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Miguel Dicent (190-94, college: Morehead St.) responded with 18 points and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Nigerian-American power forward Ikechukwu Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with San Lazaro and Barias. Bameso at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost.
