Regular Season Round 4: Teclenas - Bulldogs 40-57

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Teclenas (2-1) in Santa Tecla on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by Bulldogs (3-0) 57-40. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Teclenas. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Bulldogs held Teclenas to an opponent 20.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 33.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Bulldogs forced 20 Teclenas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Melany Sanchez (167-4) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Andrea Batres (170-93) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Andrea Cristales (175-97) replied with 3 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Gabriela Chavez (163-98) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Teclenas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bulldogs have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Lincoln. Teclenas at the other side keep the sixth place with one game lost. Bulldogs will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Teclenas will play against Usulutan R. (#12) and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
