There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Independiente (5-16) beat higher ranked Ameghino (14-7) in Santiago del Estero 72-62 on Tuesday. Quite impressive performance for Sebastian Lugo (195-98) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Juan Angel Lopez (190-84) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Independiente's coach Juan Siemienczuck used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Jonatan Torresi (190-94) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-98) added 14 points and 7 assists in the effort for Ameghino. Independiente maintains fifteenth place with 5-16 record. Loser Ameghino dropped to the second position with seven games lost. Independiente will face league's second-placed Barrio Parque in Cordoba in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ameghino will play on the road against Olimpico in Ceres and hope to win that game.
