Regular Season Round 4: Carolina - San German 83-91

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Gigantes (2-1) in Carolina on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Atleticos (2-2) 91-83. Atleticos dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Gigantes' 38. They outrebounded Gigantes 40-29 including 28 on the defensive glass. Atleticos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) who helped to win the game recording 30 points (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and the other American import Paris Bass (203-95, college: Detroit) who added 16 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Belardo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Atleticos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Terrico White (196-90, college: Ole Miss, agency: Shark Sports Management) responded with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Miguel Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valpo) scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Atleticos moved-up to second place, which they share with Santurce and Mayaguez. Gigantes at the other side keep the third position with one game lost. Atleticos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gigantes will play at home against the league's second-placed Brujos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
